If your CPU getting hot...
...don't play. I'm serious.

I have i9-12900k with a little undervolt, 4090, 64gb ddr5 and my temps are: 19-23c idle, 55-60c in most games, up to 72c while rendering videos and working. Room temperature is 20-22c. GPU temps are up to 52c as well, even in most demanding games.

Paste is good (Grizzly), Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 with custom fan curve for the best cooling. PC case has superb airflow with lots of fans. However, only THIS GAME spikes to 82c. Yes, 82c is not that bad in most situations, but we are talking about my average temperature, while people in some discussions even have 90-100c with shutdowns.

Game is in EA, it has some serious problems for some people with performance and still has a long way to go before it gets good optimisation for every system. I run this game in 3440x1440 with Epic settings, DLSS Quality, getting 90-120fps and 4090 just powering through the game engine anyway. I locked fps to 120.

In the starting zone my CPU temps are 45-55c, in the first village with 2-5 AI enemies it stays at 55c, but if I load the game from the menu or go to the heli CPU goes to 80c+ instantly. So my only solution here is to wait for more updates and fixes, you are not loosing anything if you don't play GZW right now.

Edit: I'm reading that some people clock down their GPU and CPU to play this game... Are you serious? Wait for the fix from the developers and don't mess with your system. If you really want to do something - update all drivers and BIOS.

65c is most definitely not max temp. You would be fine hitting and sustaining 80c-90c, even.
NOPE! I play each game with Msi Afterburner so I can see LIVE my temps. U R WRONG!
A max temp of 65*c is rather low, CPUs can regularly hit around 85*c without worry. Anything above 90*c is a problem. I have my max set to 83*c but my CPU has only reached a maximum of 78*c (one core) while playing the game thus far.

They're saying the max temp they see in-game is 65C... Not that that's the max temp for their CPU in general
Oh, damn, my bad then! Apologies!
Oh, nevertheless what I said isn't untrue.

My CPU goes up to 90 or even 100 when I on the bird.

Asset loading. If it remains that hot when you're at the LZ and not moving, then you have a problem.
Lol, blaming a Game for a hot CPU.
You say you render videos and stuff and don't hit those temps.
Runa stress test and see how hot it gets.

If the game needs more CPU power, of course it runs hotter.
Just because other games are not as demanding on your CPU and won't get it as hot, you blame a Game (with a new engine!) that your CPU is running hot?

Imagine...

Yes as you said,it's fine when i staying at the base or out on foot. But sometime login in the game and start loading, the CPU temperature will up to 100 and auto reset my PC.
Seriously go into your bios and limit cpu temps to 85. Not hard.

Recent i9s. 13th & 14th gen in particular.. Are being over exerted by a lot of mobos who are running uncapped voltage or far exceeding intel reccs. A lot of new information has come out over the last few weeks about this and people should absolutely down clock their cpu's to avoid thermal throttling in higher end games.

There is actualy a vid on YouTube from JayzTwoCents, about that Topic, in ASUS Bios its called ASUS MultiCore Enhancement in this Case it should be set to "Disable - Enforce all Limits"
if it is on Auto it allows the CPU tu pull as much Power as it wants which results in Temps. well above 100 Degrees Celsius, it then throtles the cpu clock below desired Speeds. On other BIOS (msi etc.) its called diffeerent, youll find it in the Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s43Auv8ub7w
tried experimental patch just shuts my pc off cpu too hot 5.o patch i think
Welcome to UE5.
Disabled hyper threading in bios lowered temps in this game around -10 , now max 80 when I spawn and in eli , and only 60/70 most of the time. You need a good cooler and airflow for this game aswell.

Nah, welcome to using Intel's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ hybrid architecture CPUs

80-90 C is perfectly fine. When you hit 90 or more, now you have a problem.

It's definitely unoptimized. I also run Grizzly paste, I7 10700F. After 2.1 hours of gameplay, I was sitting at 78C. No liquid cooling, just fans.

What was your spike temperature? Also, you can save on some of that by locking it to 60FPS - really no reason to go above that.

I stopped playing because I couldnt lock the game to 60 fps. Even though its in the menu options. Didnt matter, would still hit 99% GPU usage at be at 100fps. So that option is bugged for some people.

It is not. My CPU doesn't get any hotter in this game or any other UE5 game than it does in other games that are moderately demanding of the CPU like Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk, or Starfield. The hybrid architecture Intel CPUs are ♥♥♥♥ for modern gaming because they're inherently unstable at anything other than completely stock settings.
Do we have any update on the crazy temps and cpu usage for greyzone? Just tried playing again and still the same thing as it was in may of 2024. High temps and high cpu usage.
