Game shuts off my PC
This has happened 3 times now. Every time I board the heli and take off, my PC shuts off.

I have a Ryzen 7 3700x and a 3060Ti
32 GB RAM
running on medium settings

I run other intensive games just fine, and the temps when my pc crashes aren’t too high. How would a game cause my PC to repeatedly shut off? Is this a common issue with this game?

My issue was simply caused by a build up of dust. It wasn't causing issues in any other game but with how demanding GZW is it would very quickly overheat especially when near or on helicopters. I gave my system a good clean and now it runs. Given it does not run great but it does run.

Check your Windows Event Viewer for WHEA logger errors right before the unexpected shutdown error messages. If you find some, you probably need to turn off the auto overclock setting thats turned on by default in Ryzen Master.

When you take fly with the heli the game loads the next “area”, and the first time you do this the game uses like 100% the cpu to cache shaders and such (as far as I know).
So the temps can have a sudden spike as well that you won’t have time to recognize.

Have you tried to lock your fps?

A game cannot cause this directly. Something with your PC isn't running right and it just so happens that this game is the one that triggers the issue that makes it shut down.

check your power and cooling settings that could force shutdown your pc

Thank you for the responses, I’ll try them all as soon as I get home tonight 👍

Its a feature of the big potential it has

The same thing happens to me and to many other people too, it's a problem with the game, it's not our problem no matter how much some want to make it look like that

the game is un optimized so it can cause power drain which exceeds your systems power management setting this leads to the computer force shutting down either the game or you PC make sure to check you power settings for you general PC you GPU and CPU.(if you dont know how id recommend a y tube video it makes it easier to understand)

I don't know how much simpler to put this, but the game cannot cause this unless the system was not running properly in the first place. If the game overheats your system, it's still a system problem. Your system should not be able to overheat and you need to look at why it's happening.

in my specific case, right when i land on the heli i lose power to my pc. on the second attempt i had my thermals up just to see, my gpu was at 56C and cpu at 39C. So heat is not an issue. I've tried playing just about every "hard to run" game i own and this doesn't happen even with the other games making my thermals double waht grayzone gives me.

has to be something with the game and specific hardware maybe, really hard to tell.

While I would like to believe this is the case my personal experience says otherwise... I had this problem too. My computer would randomly just shut off. It didnt even take getting on the helicopter to cause it. I experienced my PC shutting off while just standing in the main base where no new loading should have caused a spike. I checked all the things many others have suggested as well.

I checked my PSU. Even though its less then a year old and has way more WATT power then my rig should need. I have an 850 WATT power supply to run a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 4.2 ghz six core processor, Nvidia Geforce RTX 3060 an m.2 socket SSD drive and 32 GB of ram. its perfectly fine and I found it working as it should be.

now my PC was originally set to not restrict my processor. my whole PC is optimize for gaming and to not have restrictions on functioning. While it has over heated on me in the past it has only happened during the summer and after playing for hours. like four or six hours straight on a hardware demanding game. so I find it weird that this game would be able to jump my CPU and Graphics card temp from 46 degrees C to over 100 degrees C in just a minute and cause a shut down. but on the off chance i changed my power settings to reduce how much power the CPU could pull. this did not fix the issue either.

I also find online all sorts of windows settings when mixed with certain programs can cause the issue. tried switching all of those and still no fix.

checked my RAM. that's also working fine. Tried lots of different settings. some restricting my FPS. none of these changes stopped my PC from turning off while running this game. This is a huge surprise for me as nothing on the market has ever pushed my CPU past a 60% usage. Even when my computer shut off on me I didnt see a jump of utilization over 70%... so if my PC isnt even using the full power of my Processor how can it jump 60 degrees C in a second and cause a shut down my stuff cant track?

It doesnt make any sense to me. I have literally un-optimized my rig in an attempt to get it to work with this game and wasnt successful. I am out of things to try so Glad i was able to refund my money. I am hoping that they figure it out eventually because I would really like to be able to play this game.

Your PSU being high wattage doesn't mean it isn't failing due to defect, age, or shoddy quality. To rule out your PSU the best thing you can do is check it with a multimeter or try another similar PSU

Have you checked your BIOS settings to ensure they are properly setup for your CPU. Have you tried disabling things like hyper-threading if your CPU >6 cores?

How did you check your RAM? Did you do run a memory test? Remove each stick to test and reseat?

When was the last time you applied thermal paste to your CPU? It sounds like there could be an issue with heat transfer to the plate of your CPU cooler. If you are using a water cooling system are your fans and/or pump working properly?

Again, a computer shutting down is going to be an issue with some hardware failure somewhere. Failing PSUs are typically the most common culprit

I checked my PSU with a Multimeter, I am aware that WATTS doesn't take into account whether its defective. I had a PSU go bad last year which is why I bought this new one. I was just mentioning the amount because other people have said my PSU did not have enough power to run my rig triggering a PC shut off.

My BIOS are the exact ones that i need for my Processor, I built this computer myself and made sure I had the correct BIOS for this CPU, I also updated all the drivers for this CPU as well. I will admit I did not try disabling my hyper-threading.. but my CPU usually runs at 46 to 50 degrees C.. that would be pretty sad if I had to shut down my hyper-threading and lose performances on all my other games to just get this one to work... I am personally not ready to go that far yet and would rather wait for them to optimize the game more at that point.

I ran a memory test. I guess I could try reseating them. probably wouldn't have hurt to do that when I checked the PSU unit. I am doubtful that would solve the problem though...

I applied thermal paste less then a year ago. When my PSU was acting up I thought it might be a temp thing and applied new thermal past then. It has had new thermal past put on about every year since i put it together and have no over heating issues besides obvious ones like when its summer and this room gets really hot and i play demanding games for long periods of time. I check the temp now though and have learned to give the system breaks so its been a long time since i over heated it that way. during fall, winter and spring though never over heats no matter how long I play or what I am playing. I unfortunately dont have water cooling just a crap ton of fans.

again my hardware doesnt seem very likely... This is the only game I am having problems with. I have been playing Hell Divers 2, Far cry 6, Mount and Blade Banner lord 2 and many other games with no problems. I built this machine to be able to run pretty much everything on 1080p at medium level graphics. There hasn't been a game yet that this system hasn't been able to run smoothly till this game. besides my PSU going bad last year all the issues with games have been a development side issues that required the developers to do updates to fix.

I reapplied thermal paste (way overdue) and I that seemed to fix my problem. But the game still runs like garbage lol
