Garbage idea. Not even worth the devs time.
learn more about key mapping; one can bind well more than 20 shortened, I'd say 40 or so....
They just need to have a good optimization of the key shortcuts,
so of course it's worth adding controller support.

I'm going to take a closer look, the camera is nice smooth when you turn the aim, no stuttering I would like to say? (camera not smooth, that's if you see what I mean..)
I plan to play it just in pve co-op or single player pve,
thanks for sharing your setup :)
You'd need a 3rd party app to map stuff (I've had it for other games).
But like I said it works...somewhat. YMMV
Lack of controller support is very bad for economy, this due to alot of players don't use the most ergonomic setup for their PC gaming, either because the lack of space at home or the lack of ability to sit ergonomically with a keyboard and mouse, or they simply have carpal joint issues using mouse and keyboard or find it as a total lackluster experience in comparison to a controller. Sitting with a controller enables you to sit or lie down while playing in almost any position which makes it more fun as a relaxing experience, most players play to relax not to have a office time session.
