Maybe the game is frying your CPU though
I have the same cpu, do you see temp spikes that high in other games? What cooler do you have? Case airflow decent? Have you undervolted?
I have a CM 212+ and had to undervolt/underclock, get better performance than stock volt/clock but still spikes to 81c in some games.
Ps. epic settings, fps locked at 160, average fps is 110, 3440x1440, rtx4090
Cpu temps between 50/60c but is somtimes spikes up to 95c when in the chopper.
No other game does this to my cpu.
Got a Corsair 7000x case with 11 140mm fans, this thing runs cool all day long.
Telling random people to do that when they have no clue what they are doing is only going to end up with them making their pc unstable or breaking it completely.
Repaste for sure at a minimum, what CPU again?
Stock settings I was hitting 80C+ with my 7800X3D when gaming. Did an undervolt and now I get a max of 65C in anything i can throw at it on a NH-U14S air cooler. Getting exact same gaming performance plus now it is much quieter and uses less power.
Unless you disabled them, there are fail safes that will prevent damage on modern chips. It will throttle itself before it melts. There's no need to be afraid to turn on your PC due to temps. My chip hits mid 90c all the time. My old 4790k was overclocked to 5ghz and sat at 98c for nearly a decade, I still have it, it still works.
