Good catch, found it. 5million € investment from NuVerse, based in Beijing (or Hong Kong, google gave both as result), it is a subsidiary of ByteDance, the TikTok company.
However, its been announced NuVerse is shutting down late last year...so we can thank them for the cash that funded GZW and wave them goodbye xD
You clearly don’t know what a “port” is. Arena is not a port. It’s just the same brand as their mobile title.
Did you not watch gameplay of gray zone? You can jump to avoid damage. There’s tons of stupid janky combat in all the videos.
That means you are dancing with cheaters forever.
No matter how much effort various development teams put into combating cheaters, they are always behind the curve and with this game being free to play the cheaters aren't even paying their spam accounts.
Not for me.
I'll gamble on GZW and if it fails Incursion looks like it's going to be great in the future at least, will be waiting on that.
ABI is F2P which means cheaters but more accessibility, can easily be countered by selling priority paid matchmaking and obviously a good anticheat, if ABI has battleye it's going to be DOA but i trust a chinese company to have good working spyware to counter cheating.
GZW is paid access + pay to win editions like EFT (im an EOD owner on EFT so i know what im talking about) and they confirmed the game will be wipe-based even after full release so people who buy expensive editions will have a permanent headstart every 3-6 months that puts them at massive advantage.
I like the idea of GZW open world way more than the usual smaller maps of EFT / ABI but with all the issues the game currently has + no sense of progression it's objectively not worth it, launch window is the most important part of every live service game and this one will probably fail which means dead on arrival or after a few weeks.
A good Tarkov clone with QOL features and optimization is all people want.
You get access to all kind of medkits and market at level 1, they also give you 300k currency to buy gear and a stash full of gears at the start of the game. By completing quest they give you gear tickets beside money and exp. Gear tickets depends on its rarity give you the whole gear set for free (gear set contain all armor, headset, weapons, 3-4 mags, medkits and painkiller etc... For example, If i use purple rarity gear ticket before I join a match I get a fully modded akmn with lvl 4-5 armor & helmet, 4 expendable mags and medkits to fix all kind of problems) These tickets are quest rewards and free battle pass rewards.
It's also really cheap to heal after dead from the doctor, also there is no cooldown for scav run.
No weapons are locked behind paywall, You can buy in-game currency as well - sounds pay to win but people do buy rubbles and weapons in Tarkov using irl money anyway.
Yes, most ingame icons are copied from Tarkov, but the game is literally a more optimized and less p2w Tarkov. I believe this game is closest to Tarkov than any game on the market beside the jumping mechanic.
It's free, you should give it a try. Beside secure cases subscriptions, the rest are pay for convenient. There are also less cheaters than Tarkov.
In the long run I believe i'm going to stick with the mobile version since there will be less cheater than the PC version.
max settings on mobile is pretty sick but people prefer 120hz gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFsxfuURUyk
