Gray Zone Warfare

A Tediuous and Boring Experience is on the Horizon
So far I have been loving GZW. I am still completing the missions, but I can see a huge issue looming that will probably completely kill my enthusiasm.

The missions are not bad, but they are maybe just too simple or too impossible. I simply cannot find the SW OSTRG key so that is a blocker. Okay not a big deal, the other missions are just walk up to something, press F and go back to base. It would be nice if there was a bit more depth. Maybe other conditions such as being undetected by the AI or having to take very little gear because the item you are retrieving is very heavy, I don't know, just stuff which requires compromise, patience, skill, etc.

The major problem is the amount of gear swimming around in this environment. My motivation is being killed by kind hearted fellows with millions in cash just dropping top tier gear, guns and cash like they are sweets. I mean it is great, but what is the point of playing the game? I suspect a wipe is needed sooner than later. But leads to the problem that simply wiping would mean I have to grind again. So GZW has to offer a lot more, different and better missions, different gear and a different structure such as Joint Ops and Warfare progress being completely independent and playing differently with regards to the PVE aspects.

So we have a tricky situation where a wipe is needed soon, but not before some deep and structural changes to the experience are completed without losing a lot of players. Maybe people will wonder a away and come back later, who knows.

Yep, typical EA game cycle. I left Valheim after finishing the first five bosses. Then came back as they added more Biomes and content. I remember going through similar cycles with Ark back in the early days.

Good observation, I guess.

let's wait till someone fully implemented AI into a game with such we could actually fight like-human enemies, instead of all fixed coded AI that are too strong or too weak.

dude tthe devs change or repair nothing, check last 40 days from the launch what they have made

exactly after the last patch you still cannot retrieve you loot from your dead body even if you can see it you cannot possibly complete missions when you need a particular key even if you farm the AI for 4 days taking into account t the wait time for a chopper LOL what a joke . i have painfully completed 100 plus missions and cannot put myself through any more Gray zone pain atm . Poor graphics except for the detail in 4 billion plants LOL poor player movement , AI one shot you through bush,s before you could possibly work out were they are . look apart from some minor early vanilla access problems i am sure this game with a whole lot of more money from us will help the dev to have a great holiday

I think they should remove the ability of retrieving your gear from your dead body. It is supposed to be hardcore right.

Plus you will feel less stress and save a lot of time by not being able to do so.

Should there be more keys in GZW?
I thinks so, that would lower the "grind" for keys.

But this may be intended...

Yeah, but I hope they see they took a couple wrong turns in the design and are putting the time into the more structural changes that are needed rather than wasting time making pointless fixes with no future.

Agreed. Maybe as a kludge to make it harder. The missions should be harder to complete because they require skill and a splash of luck. Right now some of the missions are 99% luck which sucks.
I got so fed up yesterday.

Everything is possible when you learning the game , improve , level up , upgrade vendors , use m4 and best ammo , the game is made for a slow progression , clearing alone the whole Sapphire and Fort narith whitout problems (it take hours but is how the game work) , some spot are dangerous and you have just to avoid and find a better path , i know sometime you can insta die but i think it is fun the way it is , for now i m lv 29 completed almost all the task , need to complete last few task in Sapphire and Fort narith , i left for last Tiger Bay.

I tell you what would make it better, is intel to allow the formulation of a plan. We just have a flat low res map. Some intel such as expected AI, most probable locations, geography, etc. Rather than trying one way, dying. Next, dying. Next bit further, but still died. My squad took two days and about four attempts to find a way to the objective in Tiger Bay so that we could all complete the mission. Once we found a good route, it was doable. Brute force is one way to do it, but it is just dice rolling.

OP, I agree with you to an extent and like some of your suggestions but you lost me with the loot issue. I don't think that should have much or any impact on you if you play PvE. For pvp it's possible but it's available to all really so it doesn't negatively impact all but the most stringent people.

I like the idea of unique quests that Kay be more risky like low gear and packing which should also equate to higher quality loot and exp. Good idea.

I think the main issue you say in your title. It's too tedious to grind so much for little reward. It's not respecting the average persons time. I'm not fast playing by any means and if anything going slow but I have 90 hours and only level 18. That has less than everyone on level 2 vendors and still a ways from level 3s for some. That sucks.

I think there needs to be more reason to use AKs and other weapons like the sniper and more unique qualities to grips scopes and other gear. Maybe some can be really good in level one and two if you can find it or earn it. Which keeps the excitement to still earn the level 3. I don't even know if there is level 4 but adding another level could improve the distribution as well. Hmm I like that idea of adding another level as that's an easy fix and solves a lot of problems with progression alone.

The game is great but has a ways to go. We need better hot fixes faster imo at this early stage.

Edit: the dupe loot cash thing is fine for me personally because it's too easy to lose everything starting out and definitely playing alone with the ai being inconsistent. There are plenty of whack 1 tap scenarios that lose out on gaining your lost gear or crashes that make you lose your ability to get back the good gear. It's early access so I'm not having issue with it nearly at all given that people do drop good kit currently. The community is the strength of this game imo. I know it will get fixed but it's a Grey zone for me! I'd never dupe or cheat myself but I also am not complaining about gear drops from that very system at this moment in time.

Thanks for your nice response and thoughts. My thinking is that the loot you collect in Joint Ops does not transfer to Warfare. I love the idea of Joint Ops, definitely a key feature, but being able to run around risk free and then bring that loot into Warfare risks turning Warfare into an ambush simulator. I think Warfare should be about surviving the environment, progression and then dealing with other factions that get in the way of those two.
