Cheaters aren't something that can be simply rooted out and taken care of. Not unless Cheating becomes illegal where every gaming firm could cause legal action like in Asian countries.
MFG will do their best to combat cheaters, but like every firm out there there's only so much they could do.
Since you haven't read, Grayzone Warfare is a PvEvP game, focus on the environment.
No one is or will FORCE you to play PvP as PvP is simply there on a big map while there is 31 other players besides you and your faction.
The devs are considering PvE COOP servers but nothing is set in stone.
I recommend checking out the FAQ and some videos from content creators to get an actual look how and what this game is about.
The promise of „their best“ never was enough over the years. I am not pessimistic, just realistic. Cheating got so out of hand, that investigative journalists have basically proven that the percentage of encountering a cheater in a looter shooter like EFT is higher than not encountering one in a match.
There is a multimillion-dollar industry leeching on PVP games, doing nothing else besides developing cheats for their talentless costumers. And I have not seen a single title, that manages to deal with the problem effectively.
What you are saying is irrational. You know that PVP will be forced upon everyone, either they like it or not when they get killed by a ragecheater that simply is allowed to kill you by the games design? Does not matter if the killed player actively pursed PVP. If the game design allows PVP it will be forced on the player. Ignorance will not be a protective shield. Or do the Devs have an active plan for some sort of PVE only zone?
Yes, you can basically try to ignore PVP in a game like Day Z, but that doesn’t mean that it won’t get forced upon you on the first player encounter. EFT is also a PVPPVE shooter. Yet one single cheater is enough to wipe out an entire lobby. The only thing that keeps them from doing that is the fact that lobbies are by now infested by multiple cheaters competing for everything. When the only option is to die when encountering a player that has the intention to kill everything, then that is called forced.
They better very strongly consider COOP servers. Unless they have a bigger budget and knowhow than tiny companies like Valve to combat cheaters more effectively. Its either that, or very strong copium.
Tomas has already confirmed that there will be PVE-only servers and an option to rent a private server.
I've been working at Madfinger Games for 10 years. I'm interested in every comment you guys write here and if I can, I'll happily answer anything you want. As far as PvP servers go, Norkik is right. I've already posted this information here several times. I quoted our CEO Mark Rabas, who was the first to mention it here. And as Norbik pointed out, the CLOSED testing period will happen before the Early Access release. Have a good day :)
Awesome. Thank you very much. But I was already sold when I heard that this game will support PVE/COOP only and private servers. This is the way to go. I do not even need to test it. I know I want to buy it and will have no regrets. And same is true for my friends, we are waiting since a long time for the gameplay GZW is promising.
thanks for the nice feedback. The game will be released in Early Access soon. I look forward to talking about your first impressions and the experience you get in the game. Have a great time :) Tom
I hope this reaches you besides all the feedback and rant that came up lately.
By the way I bought the supporter Edition. Yet I had to give the game a thumbs down.
Mainly because when I was playtesting the game, the AI was invincible a lot of the time or non-responsive. Probably server/netcode issues.
The game has other issues as well. I think it was released to early, even for EA. I am not playing PVP, yet I think that factions had to have different sets of uniforms or at least insignias to distinguish them from the other factions. Everyone looks the same and IDing basically only works by checking the map. Damage of shotguns and pistols does not seem to be calculated properly at all. And plenty other small things.
My current biggest concern is actually the graphics. I don’t know how to put this. But the visuals lack clarity. Everything looks very pixilated. And I honestly don’t know why. All of my friends feel the same. We have the correct resolution. Native, or DLSS, sharpness high or low nothing seems to help this. And when I look at the gameplay of streamers, they seem to suffer from the same issue. I am running the game mostly smoothly on 3440x1440 on my high-end machine. Yet the game looks distorted after a distance of +5 meters.
But besides all that, I see the diamond that is hidden under all these issues. I love that the game is NOT based around looting or forced PVP action. This has the potential to become the best and most enjoyable milsim king on the market and could deliver where others clearly failed. The Tasks are enjoyable, make sense and give you a red line throughout the world and game. The whole gameplay loop is exactly what most aged milsim fan want. Immersive, uncomplicated (in terms of teaming up and actually playing the game) hardcore gameplay that is focused on missions.
The most important thing I would like to tell you is this:
Stick to your vision of the game. It is hardcore/realistic, not loot intensive and mission based. I already see a ton of people ranting because the game is not Escape from Tarkov of something else. Yet I am very, very certain that the quiet majority bought your game, like me, because they exactly want what you promised. Do not let you, or your team get pressured into changing your vision of the game. A lot of content creator may hate it, because there isn’t action all the time. Yet actual players do not seek that anyways.
I am looking forward of what becomes of GZW and wish you the best to succeed. The genre and especially the players in it need you and a playable GZW.
