And where does EFT have that mechanic from? Stalker games. And where did stalker copy it from? I don’t know. Nor do I care. Its not a bad sign to build something up on a solid foundation and expand on it.
What I am more afraid of is the fact that Tarkov and games like these in general attract the most human waste on the planet. And all efforts to counter the cheating problem failed. No one ever managed to get that under control, especially when “loot is at stake” and people turn to cheats more often.
This game is already doomed if it is similar to Tarkov. Those who don’t know about the cheating situation in games like EFT should watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p5LfGcDB7Ek
Its pathetic to have a loyalty for certain games.. its not like Gray Zone copied the entire game.
say this as someone with 6k hours in tarkov, multi-kappa, alpha player. love the game but BSG is amateur hour.
Cheating is more rampant than most people realize for every multiplayer game. Everyone knows the obvious cheaters who fly through the air, shoot through multiple walls, kill 50 peeps in 1 sec, etc., but then there is the subtle cheater who doesn't make it obvious.
These are more common as they don't want to get banned and lose access to the game they paid $$'s for. Plenty of "professional gamers" and well-known streamers have been caught cheating for crying out loud.
To make matters worse, there are paid cheats who have a refund system: if caught cheating, the cheat-makers pay for a new copy of the game for the cheat subscriber. Youtube vids on this too, even from the cheat developers themselves.
It's not good to become paranoid and accuse everyone of cheating - as there are many skilled players in every game - but at the same time, those types of people who deny every accusation with "get gud" or "skill issue" are either hopelessly ignorant of the situation or possibly cheaters themselves. Either way, they exacerbate a big problem in every multi-player game.
With all my blah-blah above said, I'm looking forward to Gray Zone Warfare.
Best case scenario is that cheaters are kept to a minimum; that's really all we should expect.
