The MK2 could regen health too under certain conditions. I think if it was above half health it would regen itself in TS/FS
But in the first C&C it wasn't the MK2, it was the Mammoth tank much like the MK3 in TW/KW except it was just a dual 125mm cannon tank while in C&C3 they are able to upgrade to dual rail cannons and really own it up when in large numbers and when maxed out rank.
The MK2 was pretty godly though. I remmber owning entire Nod bases with that thing in TS/FS and never even flinching since it did ground and air units easily.
