make sure all your files,windows,drivers are uptodate
try run as admin and try the other compatibility modes
are you using the revora CnConline launcher?
if u use avast or other antivirus they can sumtimes stop the game executing unless the cnc3 exe,s are added to exclusions.
make sure the exclusions are added or temp disable ur firewalls/antivirus to see if it runs and if it does then add the exclusions.
if ya use the revora launcher add ifeo.exe to ur exclusions aswell..
a few times the game has suddenly stopped working and i had to re add them due to avast updates.
here are other fixes to common problems, let us know if u get it sorted and what ya did so it helps others... i cant find anything recent with that particular error message.
if you use a nVidia GTX 660 or similar
All You have to do is go to nVidia Control Panel , and set Global Preffered Graphics Processor to "high-powered nVidia card". Usually You find the application and set "run with" to high-powered nVidia card , but for some reason Steam doesn't launch the game from that cnc3kw.exe so You have to set it for global (kind of like for all applications).
some had direct x errors on win 8 and 7due to high resolutions not being read, to sort it..
To do this in steam:
1. go to your LIBRARY of games
2. right-click on "Command and Conquer 3: Kanes Wrath
3. choose "Properties"
4. click the "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." button
5. type in "-xres 3600 -yres 1920" without the quotes (use your current screen resolution shown in windows if not 3600x1920)
some have had laggy performance due to default settings in config being too low even with ultra high settings set.
do the videos stutter?
if its this problem, to sort it...or at least check the config defaults
Find the Application Data folder for Kanes wrath/tib wars
in 7 its in..
.
C:\Users\(yourname)\AppData\Roaming\Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath\Profiles\(yourname)
Now find the following line in the Options.ini:
IdealStaticGameLOD = VeryLow
Change this to read:
IdealStaticGameLOD = UltraHigh
errors with direct X 11 windows 8
CnC3 is directx 9. Try browsing C drive>windows>system32, scroll down until you find d3dx9_24.dll and copy files ending in _24-_43 and paste them into the main CnC3 folder. restart computer and try again.
pls..no need for the formalities.. u can call me empty....or sac..)
naa the mighty pirat3Patch can pin useful info...... i hope im not stealing anyones thunder.:D
Maybe other things that helped was copying the dx files into the installation folder (i am actually using the origin version but should be the same for any version) and i dont think any of the res changes did anything cause when it finally ran it was at 720x480 or whatever the default is.
I also think i ended up using the global nvidia gpu settings (all programs launched by that instead of the integrated graphics) I didnt downgrade nor upgrade any drivers either.
Also i ended up doing that compatibility mode running thing from the actual exe since origin has like an integrated play game button that skips any type of launch configurations.
