Still Not Launching on Windows 10
Hi Folks,

I'm getting the exception error upon launching the game; a problem it seems many others have experienced as well. I've tried all the proposed fixes, including Envy's solution involving tinkering with .NET, as well as downloading DirectX 2010. Still encountering the same problem. Has anyone come up with any other solutions? Thanks.

Did you try to install DirectX 9.0c? DirectX 2010 is DirectX 10 as far as I know.

Get DirectX 9.0c here: http://www.4players.de/4players.php/download_start/Downloads/Download/49413.html

Also make sure you have a file called options.ini. To check that do the following:

  • Press the Windows button + R on your keyboard.
  • Type in "%appdata%" (without "") and check if there is the following folder path: Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars\Profiles\<user-id>\
  • There should be a file called Options.ini inside. If not, create one with notepad (right click on the empty field in the folder => New text document) and name it Options.ini. Make sure you don't get a file like "Options.ini.txt", file ending has to be .INI!
  • Now, open that file and copy-paste this:

AlternateMouseSetup = 0
AmbientVolume = 50.000000
AnimationLOD = UltraHigh
AntiAliasingLOD = 4
AudioQualitySetting = High
Brightness = 50
DecalLOD = High
EffectsLOD = UltraHigh
HasSeenLogoMovies = yes
IdealStaticGameLOD = VeryLow
ModelLOD = High
MovieVolume = 70.000000
MusicVolume = 70.000000
Resolution = 1920 1080
SFXVolume = 70.000000
ScrollFactor = 65
SendDelay = 0
ShaderLOD = UltraHigh
ShadowLOD = UltraHigh
ShowTickerAds = 1
ShowTickerNews = 1
StaticGameLOD = Custom
TerrainLOD = UltraHigh
TextureQualityLOD = High
ToolTipDelay = 0
VoiceVolume = 70.000000
WaterLOD = UltraHigh

  • Check the Resolution line (Resolution = 1920 1080) and adjust it to your native desktop resolution (1600 900 etc.) or keep it as it is, if that's the correct resolution for you.
  • Click on Data => Save (NOT save as! Or simply press Ctrl + S) and close the file.
  • Check if that helped.
