Hey hey,
I recently bought the game command and conquer 3 tibirium wars with a buddy. since we like this kind of games and I liked to play it in the past we wanted to play it. since i found out later that ALL servers are down, i did some research. There is a solution from the download "C & C online". That worked well, we also got an online lobby. the problem we could NEVER start because everyone had a bad connection, although our connection is great. hamachi also does not work as it should. who has tips or a solution?
thanks in advance;: D
Dragon12341, to respond to your question. Reason why you cold not start your games on C&C Online is not because one of you has "bad internet", or because you are too far away from your buddy or because your versions don't match. This game, like all C&C games that were played on GameSpy (Generals, Zero Hour, Kane's Wrath, Red Alert 3) uses peer-to-peer to establish connections between players, and peer-to-peer requires certain ports in your router to be open. Otherwise, the game cannot establish connection between players even though all of them are logged in to same server. Whether those ports are open or not depends on your internet provider. In your case, either you, or your buddy, or both of you don't have all the necessary ports open and that is why you can't start a game on C&C Online.
The solution to your problem (if you wanna play on C&C Online) is to either set up a DMZ in your router or to use a VPN (free ones like Windscribe or Betternet work too) before logging in to the server. Of course, you can try playing on GameRanger or Tunngle too if you want. GameRanger is the better option in my opinion since it does not spam as many ads at you as Tunngle.
As for your issue with Hamachi, if you (or your buddy) are using Windows 7, the current Hamachi versions don't install properly on Windows 7 and that could be the reason why you can't play through Hamachi. Only older versions of Hamachi work with Windows 7. If you are using any other OS than Windows 7, then I don't know.
