Tib war normal= RA 3 hard,or even slightly harder.
.So RA 3 campaign is better balanced.In rare cases saving loading mid missions can slightly break AI scripts in Tib wars.eg they no longer attack you,and stay at base,but still produce units.
KW and RA 3 is good,never had issues with them,likely due to less balance patches.......
Tib war/KW campaign is single player focused,so no forced coop commanders and such design.
Also has many backstory optional intel stuff,versus zero in RA 3,so lore is much better done in TW,KW than ahem umm lore????? in RA3.(time travel,RA 1 2 and YR did not happen........).
In general in Tib wars you can create more stuff/squads and faster than in RA 3,you have stronger eco,you can create more refineries/harvesters near tib fields just like in older C&C games.(unlike RA 3"forced mining"style for esport gameplay).
You can buy unit/building upgrades for many units,unlike none in RA 3.(macro)
Veterancy is stonger than in RA 3,tbh RA 3 is more balanced in veterancy.
TIB WAR/KW has no water bases and naval combat,where RA 3 is kinda strong in that regard.
GFX art style and general game atmopshere is much more seriously toned than RA 3,more adult themed,also everyone is properly dressed as in the millitary...unlike RA 3..........
All C&C games have great movies.
Both RA 3 and TW/KW have 30 fps engine caps.....the tree destruction physics in RA 3 seems to be PS 3 quality 15 fps on max PC settings..........yeah.......
I still prefer the atmopshere of tiberian sun.But tib war is decent as well.RA 3 is a comedy movie.
Both TW/RA 3 games have 3 factions,in Kane's Wrath each faction has 2 sub faction so,9 total factions with slight differences and few unique things.
RA 3,generally more micro fewer units/slower eco,every unit has special skills.
Tib WARs,not every unit has skills,some do,more macro focused faster eco,more macro decisions.
Also side and rear armor dmg increase is much bigger in TW and KW than in RA 3.So attacking rear is much better for vechiles like tanks.
I'm not sure which game is better in terms of balance, I stopped playing their MP before knowing the strengths and weaknesses for all units/factions. But Red Alert 3 has better missions.
In Original Red Alert 1 the first soviet mission briefing is to wipe out the"bad" village all Civilians+resistance.
Stalin and others are arguing about how FAST and how many the(Sarin) Gas killed in tests....
......In the mission outro child screams and a drops tedy bear and yak aircraft machine gunning sounds heard offscreen gunning down screaming civilians.I find it 100% serious and 0% comedy.
Many RA 1 missions briefings and topics are about dealing with very serious topics presented in serious manner and in Millitary outfits.
Many charaters die during briefings from poison and other serious means.
No woman flirts with the Commander or wears very revealing clothes.
Red alert 2 is much more Comedy than RA 1 but still serious enough in many ways.
Tiberian series by nature is more serious themed.
So Red alert 3 is Imo by FAR the least serious one,I have not played the mobile ones and the now removed from STEAM fourth one which shall not be named.......
That Said RA 3 was fine,had good laughs and many eye candy woman,but it is not serious at all even compared to RA 2.
The game is actually a bit more simple than RA3 in that you don't need to micro units to use secondary abilities. Tank rush still rules the day in CNC3 so it feels similar to the older games. It is a lot more fast paced in SP than CNC or Tiberian Sun. One of the factions is very strong in the air which is similar in a way to Starcraft's Protoss.
The biggest issue with CNC3 is the game patches over time also affected single player campaigns, and as Crypto mentioned there are a couple of missions that are now significantly harder than launch since some units were nerfed and abilities changed for MP balance. Namely GDI Alexandria and Croatia come to mind. They are relatively huge spikes in difficulty with the patches applied especially on hard.
too many naval units, too many abilities and mechanics. it is not as crazy as c&c 4, but a quite different experience from c&c 3, it has its charm and fun though
I have few real complaints though:
mouse controls feel floaty;
objective arrows get in the way on your screen;
the graphics is unreadable, despite cartoonish overexaggeration;
overall, I'd say RA3 is a good spinoff, but not replacement
