Because if the company spends more money on it then demands will be made to make it more appealing to the wider audience, this is true to the original in numerous ways and that was only allowed to be the case due to how much it cost to make.

If you don't like how it looks, go play one of the more modern tomb raider games.

TR1 had a remake but 2 and 3 didn't. I feel like this remaster collection is for people like me who didn't play anything past TR3 and didn't buy/play literally anything between then and now. If you want a TR1 remake then play the anniversary. 2 and 3 really need one.

This was made for the people who enjoyed the originals and want to relive them again with minimal changes made to the game, especially gameplay. Sounds like you didn't research the game properly if you believe it to be something else.

I love what they did, it really does look nice, but a lot of the "soul" was lost in translation IMO, and your screenshots perfectly illustrate it.

Because they would fill their remakes with "woke" garbage like the next game of them will be. Remasters are the only option if you want to retain old games and breath some fresh life into it.
Besides: Classic Tomb Raider Games are based on a grid system. That is simply not transferable into a remake. Anniversary is the best example of it. Its a totally and fundamentally different game, despite trying to be a remake of the first Tomb Raider.

Castlevania (1986), Haunted Castle (1988), Super Castlevania IV (1991), Akumajō Dracula (1993) and Castlevania Chronicles (remake of Akumajō, 2001).

Although that was Konami. You can't expect much from them 😅.
