Can't sprint

for some reason my dash doesn't work and in the controls screen its darker then the rest along with two other controls down in that area. how can i fix this?

Just be aware that you can only sprint in TR3.

If that's not the issue, then I'm not sure what the problem might be.

The Sprint ability wasn't available until TR3, so you shouldn't be able to do it in 1 & 2. Unless they have some kind of new game + features where you can use it.

i think you have to on the TR2 to beat the second level, with the timed door and the boat

I believe the _boat_ has a faster speed. but that's a very different thing than being unable to sprint. Pressing the action button will sped up some vehicles and fire weapons in some others.
By default this is the X button on a Playstation pad, or the A button on an Xbox pad.
