What is a painting doing here?
"Hi there,

Was playing the game and came across this texture bug, that clearly wasn't intended. Not sure why or how one can test the game and not see this painting texture in the wrong place.

For those who don't know, I'm in one of the early secrets of Greece. The texture is supposed to be water, not a painting. Unless... Maybe the croc below enjoys art a little bit too much?:scary:"

This is the best one so far. Hard to believe no one properly tested this before release... Clear case of texture swap.

Maybe they like Scarlett Johansson really much and want to show us :steamhappy:

I think it works better as a way to conceil that secret than the normal hole in the ceiling. The moment I saw the painting from below I knew there was something there.

It was too out of place lol.

Much of it wasn’t upscaled some of was completely replaced with alternative very different art.

This happens when AI does the work. Simply as that. Trash!

Yes, upscaled textures especially with ai are most very shabby and muddy (I look at you Chrono Cross). The new textures here are reallly handled with love and care. Just look at the paintings inside the Maria Doria as example.

Seriously, yes. This is what QA is for, and it needs to be rigorous. Constant full replays to catch all oddities, bugs, glitches like this; while doing everything possible to break it, so that devs make it as indestructible as possible.
There's no excuse, if its bug don't stop and until its fixed promptly.

That's the difference with me, I never set deadlines because it incites crunch time, which adds stress, which I nor my team need to any of.
I let my game cook for however long it needs.

Having a strong foundation will go a long way for it so everything thereafter does come quicker.

No they all weren't. Some A.I. was used, but under direction and of artist with manual work, especially for some of the more obscure texture tiles.
I absolutely hated what they did with the extrusion of the skulls . . . the wall and ceillings there became bad, plain bad, unrecognizable that these are skulls by most of it.

Only if they add a goofy texture mode that offers more weird glitches like this and more achievements related to that mode.

Yeah, when its just used for upscaling.
This is not the case, for the majority and you can tell. It has manually work and touch-ups.
I'd say A.I upscale to get a border look at what the old texture tile looked like and then properly touched up to produce the final result.

Hmmm, sure it has manually work too, but they didnt playtested it enough.

Ive seen something similar in the level Colosseum. When you swim were the crocodiles are at the end of the level and you want swim back to the colosseum again, because you maybe forget something, then it looks like you have to swim through a black wall. It shouldnt be there. Thats the biggest mistake i have seen so far.
DOOM 64 had a much more "you should had done your job" approach to it

(it is not the only location missing textures)

At TR Remaster I dont think it is the case (maybe the case of some water not showing, that yes is "lacking of texture"), I think it is the case of an easter egg made on purpose

PS: Same area like shown from OP! Just dont drain the water and swim back, then you will see it.
I just ran into this one at the end of the Colosseum stage. I came to the forum specifically to mention it.

I stand by "the paintings are on purpose" at the remaster graphics and they prob they will not remove it
