How to do I backflip and stuff on modern controls?

I imagined it would be like Ratchet and Clank 2, where you hold a button and get into strafe mode, where jumping while going side or backwards would make you side or backflip.
Instead, I keep holding all possible buttons and nothing but the regular jump comes out.

You have to draw your weapon to be able to do those moves. What people doesn't understand is with the modern controls you don't need those moves. The game plays differently with modern controls.

Forget about modern controls. That's not how the game was originally designed and it just mess up with the rules.

To back flip in off walls, Or coming climinb up from the water, Just double tap really fast the jump button, Cant believe i had to piss around for an hour to learn this lol
