I blame Youtube and Twitch. The whole culture around e-celebs is exhausting, and it started around the mid-2000s. If someone says they're a fan of xyz personality on Twitch, I just assume they're a bumbling moron with brainrot at this point.

The reason why CD put this into the game is because they knew it'd piss people off, like the inadequate marketing and the announcement of the unified Lara Croft on the remaster's release day, it's another attempt to sabotage the remasters' success and overshadow them with their own sub-par slop.

Do you have any idea how much cultural ground moderates and conservatives have conceded to the perpetually offened left over the last decade? How many times have I heard "it doesn't matter it's just a trivial thing". And now we have come to a point where it is literally impossible to have a game without any POC character even if it takes place in the viking age (Assassin's Creed Valhalla). You will never hear a nuanced take on any social issue such as migration, religion, colinialization. Female characters that don't look like testosterone fuelled East German athletes and ooze traits formerly associated with toxic masculinity cause meltdowns (Stellar Blade). And Sweet Baby makes sure every AAA game turns into a freaking moral lesson from a leftwing perspective.

Meanwhile the left will fight tooth and nail for every single one of their convictions. Nexus mods is a good example of this. Any mod that slightly goes against the far left idiology will be removed. Remove certain flags or change the voice pitch of a character from male back to female and you will be blocked. You may think you are above what you call "rage bait". But it's much more likely you simply don't have any backbone to stand up against people constantly trying to dictate the "correct" way of thinking to the world.

I like the fact that people will reward low to no effort bait topics that are obvious. Like they want to see more of it.
