Is Lara with Scratches and Ripped clothes a secret?

I mean when you die, you are pulled into the load game menu.
So few will go and go into the restart level option.
and thats the only way you get to see her in ripped up rags and covered in animal scratches.

is it a secret or in later TR2 and TR3 is the scratches more normal?

I tested restarting level at TR3 and saw no scratches either restarting level or going back to main menu.
Do you have any screenshot showing before and after and when it is happening?

Yes, this happened to me too! (I thought it was a minor glitch). However, it is an extra costume, you can use it whenever you want after finishing the game.

As extra costume I already saw but I never restarted the game ...
Also I tested it at Luds Gate, maybe if I tested at a level where she uses the normal outfit the game would change it automatically to me when I press restart.

the unique option appears Restart Level.

now i dont know if it happens and you didn't die to an animal
or if it only happens if you die to Dinosys on the Dino level. Big Dino.

So i had not finished the game once either. So i had not earned the ability to wear this.

she wear it out of punishment i assumed. I assumed it indicated a challenge to complete TR1 without restarting level, but that challenge can be done by simply loading game every time. So its not much a challenge as is the challenge of selecting restart level :) Though likewise, the fact it was an animal attack may play a role. And it may even be specific to that big dinoaurs eating animation.

It happened to me in The Lost Valley. After being grabbed and killed by the T-Rex (which triggers the bloody version of the model) I restarted the level instead of reloading it and she stayed that way.

I died to the very first animal (that is the very firsy enemy) in TR 2 and nothing happened, she still wearing the same basic outfit as ever.

I also tested getting killed by the TRex at the first level then selecting to restart the level, nothing.

To me it does not work here or it just wont work on the first level.
I dont know if it works only on levels where she wears exactly the same outfit (that being Classic 1, TR 2 first level uses Classic 2 outfit).

hm... well if u look at my steam hours and achievements you can see i have never completed it yet i am injurred. it did come after the trex ate me. i don't believe at that point i had loaded game before that level i was not using the save game.
only at the ends of the previous and first levels. Prior to that point there were not many moments in platforming when it was advantageous to save regularly. i doubt it plays a role in it.

it may be if you have unlocked and selected outfits before i haven't. But maybe if you have then it keeps the outfit you chose?

the only true test is to reset the game progress and all unlocks if thats the case.

Maybe it only triggers once for the achievement of being killed by the rex. i think theres an achievement for it. i'l check

edit -- there is no achievement being killed by rex

I did not select outfit, it is the standard outfit the level starts wiith.

as you can see idk if outfits display in extras i assume they would had i had any to choose from. Which means i am stuck with this Lara, not that it bothers me, i like it, but i am stuck with it unless i suppose i started a new game......... .......

The reason i suspected any animal attack was because the gore marks have wolf scratches on her back leg

maybe i had died to animal attacks more than 3 times or something. ? lol


i may have died to the Raptors aswell before dying to rex,


loving TR1 btw.
put the sound on today very gentle lovely soothing gameplay. especially with platform saving :)
