Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft

Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft

4-6 Remaster bonus content/cut content
So I have been looking up some info about the original Tomb Raider Last Revelation and Chronicles releases on PC and I noticed that there was supposed to be a Tomb Raider 4 Gold edition with an expansion, but I also learned that it had apparently been cancelled and there only exists some community-made maps that sort of use the cancelled expansion assets with the idea of trying to re-create it.

I know we're roughly two months away from the release of the second collection but I was wondering if Aspyr, the developers behind these remasters along with Saber, have alluded to adding some bonus content like with the previous 1-3 remaster and adding back in the seemingly lost expansions that those games originally shipped with on PC? Maybe adding some community maps for Last Revelation and Chronicles?

The extra campaigns the 1-3 remastered offered along with New Game+ does give it a good chunk of lengthy replay value, so I'm hoping that besides the obvious bug fixes for 4-6 remaster that we also get some sort of expanded content besides just the base games.

Hi man,

I doubt it, because last year (or respectively in the end of 2023) when they announced the first Remaster Trilogy, they specifically mentioned they would contain all the expansions.

For the 2nd Remaster Trilogy I didn't read that.
Would be kind of stupid to include but not to mention it.

My biggest hope is some level editor because then the community can create and re-create anything 😉
And people say the Level Editor was part of the TR5 PC version, so we have good chances I think.

But also here: They have not mentioned it yet 😕

Cheers!

So, there is no reason to believe that they will include such officially non-existant content.

Everything included in the Tomb Raider I-III remasters WAS released officially, back in the days.

The only expansion that was released at the time for these games, and this has already been confirmed that it will be featured in the remaster, is the the Times magazine special level, that released almost as a demo to Tomb Raider 4. A lot of the rooms you see in the main menu camera fly through for TR4 are from that level. It is a very short expansion, compared to the Gold levels from TR1-3...

Nothing additional was ever released for TR5 or 6... I guess while making 5 a big chunk of the team was already working on TR6. And yes, there's never been any mention of the level editor that shipped with TR5 being included in this collection, I seriously doubt they would include it

The only confirmed extra level is the one created with "The Times".

Most likely there will be the material contained in Chronicles (An FMV that anticipated Angel Of Darkness and various concept art)

Then there would be a short level contained in the level editor, but who knows if they will insert it....

There are no lost expansions. The TR4 Gold you're talking about never existed beyond a concept, so talking about it being shipped is a myth. Usually all distributions including all 6 games were just that. The first 4 either had unlockable bonus content, or you had to add them separately, whether or not that's included. This was all that existed.

There are no other special expansions, and the only one that exists for TR4 isn't lost either. It just didn't normally come with it, or actually is a part of it. It's a standalone game, and it's so short, you might as well call it a demo.

None of the rest of the series after TR4 had any bonus content at all. The bonus content you get stopped adding any extra levels to unlock by then. TR5 only unlocked art. TR6 is just TR6. Basically, there's nothing special about the three compared to what you do with the first trilogy. So anything they add would just look more like soundtrack/art book goodies, I expect, rather than anything playable. Maybe even a level editor, but there's nothing in existence now that they can replicate.

I was mainly referring to the first games for "lost expansions" since I remember reading somewhere that Tomb Raider 1's "Unfinished Business" expansion was seemingly lost or part of an exclusive platform that never saw digital re-release anywhere before this remaster.

As for Tomb Raider 4, I made the mistake of implying that the cancelled content had been worked on before being halted, which is in fact not true, it was just conceptualized and nothing else. My bad.

But I was hoping if we wouldn't get expansions that at least we would get level editors like you mentioned or that Aspyr could make their own or pull some from the TR community, with permission from the original authors of those mods of course.
Well, you may be misremembering. Unfinished Business hadn't really had any issue. It has been on digital release, and freeware by now.

Lost Artifact itself was the only expansion that never had a digital release at all. They also stopped producing physical copies, I'm sure. So it's rare to obtain, and not freeware. But this in itself is not lost, and there has been nothing else that stopped short of production, physical or otherwise.

Everything up to that point, physical copy or otherwise, would be complete. So whatever special thing that's planned in remasters would likely be new content. But if not, it's certainly not anything they're reviving from the dead. I'd expect it to be comparable for the OG games, minus many of the annoyances they had.
The bonus expansions for TR1 and TR2 were part of the 'Gold' editions for PC. The expansions shipped on a separate CD within each game's box. They may have been offered as digital downloads as well. I've never seen Playstation versions of these levels.

Back in the TR golden era, I bought "The Lost Artifact" at a Game Stop. It was essentially a stand-alone game for PC that was sold as a CD-ROM. I've never seen it available in any other form (legally) prior to the remasters.

I don't know much about the Times Exclusive levels for TR4. I found them online a few years ago, along with all of the other bonus levels.

That would at least make up for Chronicles. But I was having fun throwing punches and kicking butt. I just hope they fix the weird plot hole with Kurtis' spinning blade.

These levels most likely weren't designed yet. They'd have to make them entirely from scratch.

Not to mention they would require the entire game's storyline to go through massive changes, on top of all the voice acting & cinematics needed to portray them.

This is far beyond the scope of a remaster, sounds unrealistic as hell.

I think they worked on TR5 until complete, and then they worked with the TR6 team. The original TR6 team consisted of mainly new people, as far as I know.

they only way I can see them adding that cut expansion is as a dlc to test there skill in making tomb raider level if they ever choose to make a modren tomb raider game with the style of core desgin
They have something planned that they're keeping secret. There isn't hint as to what that is, other than:
Q: Did you collaborate with the original team as part of this project? If so, how?

Matthew Ray, Brand Manager: Fans will have to wait and see who all was involved when the game releases on February 14th, 2025!
