The first 5 TR games were all built on different iterations of the same engine, so now that they have the feature implemented in TR 4 and 5, applying it to TR 1-3 should be no issue at all on a technical level.
The only reason not to do it would be financial: There are internal costs and external fees that come with pushing a patch, especially on consoles, and it seems doubtful that adding this feature would boost sales of TR 1-3 at this point, so from a penny-pincher point of view it doesn't make much sense. On the other hand, it would be a goodwill gesture for the fans though, and things like that can have a positive impact on the sales of future products.
