Check out my updated pics above, the two versions are not consistent with eachother. I find this kinda annoying, if you play on OG or Modern, you can literally just quick switch, making the flares useless.
Like why revert to the original graphics, simply not to use those ?
You could say the light levels should be the same, yet that's more to do with the new lighting system they use.
Yes the graphics in modern became far to bright, I do play with my screen darker (in TV configuration as I use a TV) but still now rarely any use to even use guns to see things.
Iam playing it like a regular game, are you reading what i said at all? seems that you havent because i clearly mentioned that i been playing with the OG graphics the entire time lol.
"So i been playing these games all this time with the OG graphics" the first sentence.......
Im just showing that somebody if they wanted to can just ignore using the flares in situations and just quickly press the graphics button to see. Which is faster to do than going into inventory and clicking on flares and using them?
i duno what you mean mate lol.
i now know what you mean haha, i didnt even see that thread, i been busy playing the game, then i started noticing the big differences in lighting and was messing around with them. I hope this dont turn into a mess of a thread full of arguing lol.
That's modern graphics (I can only tell because of the 3D items) and I can't see jack.
I played with modern graphics and used Flares plenty of times. Not necessarily in all the exact same spots as I would with retro graphics, but I don't see how that hurts the experience, you may not longer need to use a Flare in A, but you may now use it in B.
It's not like Flares are a scarce resource and players ever needed to choose wisely where to use them. The only thing people who are stingy with Flares achieve is ending up with no flares for exceeding the 255 cap.
Yes that pic is the modern one, the items are glowing in the dark, like i posted in the other pics in same spot, you cant even see it. You can see the item from a far distance.
When i was a kid, i useto run out of them, i was quite wasteful, that may be the same for somebody completely new to TR, but atm i think i have around 30-40, so yeh i do have plenty and its not an issue about being how many i have, just that there are points where it is hard to see and items are also hidden in the dark, so using a flare was a useful item, but as i mentioned in the 2nd comment, its different for both games, so it can be useful, but why bother using it, going into inventory when you could just click 1 button to change the graphics over quickly.
But im only just seeing how big the differences are in TR2, i hardly changed the graphics in TR1 so i dont know, when i get into TR3 i will continue to mess around with it.
btw jus to confirm again, i didnt realize there was a similar thread about the lighting, i didnt see it.
Because some areas are dark in both retro and modern graphics. And because you don't need to open inventory, there's a shortcut key for Flares.
Another reason why some people use Flares: The Flare Cancel trick.
Yes we know that but its not consistent with eachother, you dont even need to use the flares no more, thats the point thats being made. The same areas are either darker or lighter.
Even if you're using the original graphics, the main thing I said is still relevant though.
Yet don't you think people would know that ? I'm sure they can see that the original is brighter in some places without the picture gallery about it.
Its a forum to discuss it, if you dont like it, nobody is forcing you to read. I wasnt aware until i started messing around more with it in TR2, many hours after i started playing these remasters, so no, many people probably dont realize how big of a difference it is.
"I guess so since they're mainly talking about the same thing, picture gallery included."
Yeh i noticed its similar, but hes not talking about what was once a useful item like flares.
