Struggling with 40 Fathoms
I'm stuck at the part where you swim and there's a diver and these two other goons awaiting once you emerge.I'm super low health (no med kits) the guy with the gun kills me in one shot. I do NOT want to have to restart this damn level.I hate it :(

It is what it is, restart and try the whole level again with more health or not using medipacks.

And what else you can do if that's the case? Simply restart, see how many medipacks you had at the beginning of the level, and try to reach that part with at least half health, then draw shotgun or Grenade Launcher and kill them quick. That should give you enough room for survival, and should be easy enough if you save right before that ambush.

40 Fathoms is one of the shortest levels in TR2. Try to save some medipacks there, or next level Wreck of the Maria Doria might be easily a bigger problem.

Learn to jump and roll during combat so you take less hits. I see way too many people stand still and shoot while getting shot or smacked, tanking damage with medipacks, even famous reviewers do it.

What your meant to do is flip around, jump voer them ad flip in the air while shooting, run up in their faces and roll so they have to turn towards you, etc. I did TR1 and 2 medipackless on the original Playstation by doing this

Think of it, if you managed to get past that part with little health you could had managed to get past that part with medikits.

I would stil redo the whole level.

just wait til you hit the maria doria section where you're forced to take about half your health on first fall, and then you have to swim and get out into a hallway that has a shotgun guy, rifle guy, and wrench guy all ready to ambush you the moment you get out of the water

It's possible to get out, run to the switch, pull it and run out the door, but it takes a lot of luck so you have to have to savescum. I did it while doing my speedrun achievement. It's the end of the level so if you manage to do it you get your health refilled.

Running out of medipacks mid-game pretty much makes the game nearly impossible to complete. You get a lot more medipacks early in the game than later, so you should really try to conserve them. Finding all secrets of a level also makes the game considerably easier since you get a sh*load of weapons and ammo..
Though I guess technically it is possible to never get hit by gunfire, but that eliminates any trace of fun from the game.

If you roll as you hit the ground you can sometimes, if timed right reduce a little bit of the fall damage.
It's not much but it can help.

Also if you're playing casually (=you don't reload every time you lost more hp than you should have), my experience is that very often fights are a tradeoff between the two resources ammo and medipacks. The stronger weapons you use, the faster enemies die and the less hp you lose.

So using the most effective weapon for the situation makes it a lot easier. For example the M16 outranges the weapons of enemies, so if you can aim at them from far enough away, you can completely avoid any damage. But it's completely garbage in close range because lara stops firing after every jump or step.
The shotgun on the other hand deals massive burst damage close range, so it's a good choice for narrow corridors when enemies are surprising you from behind every corner and there is not much room to run around and dodge.
Magnums and Uzis are best for medium range fights where you need to run around while shooting to avoid damage.

Because of this I would recommend to try to keep your ammo count balanced across weapons as much as possible so that when you come across a tough enemy, you always have at least some ammo of the best weapon available. And if you're overall running low on ammo, there are a lot of enemies that can be safely killed with pistols only. For example animals after jumping on blocks where they can't reach you, fish and sharks from outside the water (might require you to jump into the water to lure them and then climb out to shoot repeatedly though).
