Yeah it's darker in places than before but that's fine with me, adds more atmosphere etc.
Considering how simplistic the game is, compared to todays games at least, I love seeing the visual potential of these remasters.
It just shows that with some TLC any old game can genuinely look amazing today.
I hope to see a lot more old games get modern remasters like this, ones that actually stay faithful to the original games as much as possible.
Only one I know that's coming that has me very excited is Front Mission 3 atm.
Can't wait to see that one.
Yeah i use the old graphics as a flashlight in areas i cant see too well as its easier to see.
True OG players pull out their pistols and shoot constantly :P
I do change the graphics sometimes just for the reminder of how different it all looks.
It's such a nice feature, the Command & Conquer remasters have it as well.
My only real complaint about it though is the framerate drop using the old graphics.
I get why the limited it but it would be nice to have an option to run it at the same fps the new graphics run in.
There is a water section at opera house that is pitch black without flare in old graphics but in new graphics you can just see everything fine and no flare needed (because underwater so shooting will not help). Honestly I got disappointed new graphics allowed me to see everything there, it absolutely made no sense and should be complete darkness there (and at some other locations where it is also darkness in old graphics but in new one we have light for some wtf reason)
not at all, its just barebone.

new graphics have dynamic light sources
they are darker sometimes but then lighter again if there is some kind of light
