with this guide i did it in just under 2 hours. (prob 3-4 hours of learning the glitches, pro tip these also work in other tomb raiders, handy to learn the wall glitch saves you so much time)

Some might class this as breaking the game, some of the glitches work, some don't in the remaster.
some tips:
-make sure you save often so you can reload a save if your messing up a lot and not waste time.
-you can pause the game with "photo mode" inventory doesn't pause the timer.
- try not to kill everything and go out of your way to find secret areas, do this in another play through.

curious how did you see your final play time of that playthrough?

You don't have to learn speedrun strats to get that achievement. TR1 levels are very short when you know the levels pretty well. You can easily shaved the time under 4 hours.

Seems a bit odd to me that you would get the 87 save achievement in the same run as the speed run.

I haven't done the speedrun yet but I imagine that I will be saving a lot to redo sections and improve my time as I go.

my first run i only did no medpacks and all items i was just having fun. 2nd run i'm doing pistols, all kills, break all floors, 86 saves and 5 hours. :happylara:

Great mentality and good advices, 7 mn off is nothing you'll get it next time for sure !
Try learning a few speedrun strats to bank some free time "just in case". Doesn't have to be overly complex either. Some are in fact really easy to do, Qualopec skip comes to mind for instance. Reloading doesn't add in game time either so feel free to retry as many times as necessary. Good luck !!

Yeah, you dont need any speedrun strats.

There are already many time savers in the game. Like jumping from the sphinx to the uzi and to the lever. So you dont have to climb down and up.
Or skipping some parts of colosseum by jumping down to the spikes (or directly to the balcony)
And if you know the way in cistern the level takes 15min at max. Same as midas.
Or skipping the pistols in natlas mines. Because in a speedrun you will ignore many enemys so it's great way for pistols only.

i bet TR1 in 2:45.

And save often the next time. Because you said that you did plenty of mistakes. So just not make them ;)

yeh the qualopec strat at start of level with wall clip was the easiest one and saves you around 30 mins

Tomb of Qualopec doesn't need 30min to beat if you know the sequence, even including all pickups it still can be done in less than 10 minutes

I do in 4 hours but no achievement. Maybe don't work in new game + :steamfacepalm:

Before i did the 5 Hour run, i ran all the levels as fast as i could and trying to find ways of reducing the time spend. I had saves for every level, so i could practice them a bit. I also noted down my times for each level. So i had an estimated time for the whole run.

So my tips are:
* Practice the levels and take notes of your time.s So you have a schedule.
* Learn how to solve each level, so you don't need to explore randomly.
* Try to think about how to reduce the distance you run
* Ignore enemies that can be ignored. Crocodiles for example can easiliy be ignored.
* When you need to kill enemies, try to kill them fast.
* Pickups or secrets that are (almost) "on you path" can be taken with only little time penalty.

With this i did the game in 3:14 hours

Just use one of hte glitchless runs from the speedrun.com leaderboard as a reference, some glitches are not exactly easy or straightforwards to replicate (if someone has any idea of how you pull that one jump into the wall that upwarps you in the early part of Natla's mine I'd appreciate that because I do not even begin to understand how it works), while the glitchless route has some fairly hard jumps to pull off it's nothing that you can't power through with a save right before attempting them.

Also as a reference you can combine, 96 saves, no meds, pistol only, all pickups, all kills and sub 5 hours in a single playthrough, it's not gonna be easy though.

That's glitched btw, it's one of those stuff in the TR Speedrun community named as GG strat. Unfortunately GG strats in Remastered are not really working at the moment as current setup isn't working atm. So yeah don't bother with that for now
