Why not ray-tracing and VR?
Please don't get me wrong, I think this remaster is brilliant and I will probably buy it and enjoy it thoroughly. But I was just wondering, if you're going to spend time reviving something for modern systems, why not go all-out and add stuff like ray-tracing and VR? Like they did with Quake II and/or Half-Life.....

look up Team Beef, they made a VR mod for it.

As for ray tracing... I dunno, can't speak for the devs but maybe they decided it wouldnt look right, or was just overkill. Bet that's another thing that can be modded in though.

Another factor is how much money the publisher is willing to put into the game's development, and how much time they're willing to wait before they ship it. Publishers look at making sure that their cost to profit assessment is hitting certain goals or they will just cancel a project.
Adding things like this would add both cost and development time.
