Regarding "No health pack" achievement
Don't bother trying to play through Tomb Raider regular mode without using health packs. It becomes nearly impossible by the last two levels.

Instead, complete the New Game+ mode and you can heal at the save crystals mid-level which doesn't even count as health pack usage as far as the achievement is concerned.

By the time you get to Atlantis you should have a lot of ammo to spare. There's really only a challenge if you're doing a pistol-only run. And even then most of the enemies are cheese-able. There's really only 2 rooms I can think of in Atlantis that border on difficult to do without taking damage, but the rest are pretty straightforward.

With regards to difficulty, both of you have a point: For veteran players who know the level and how to handle the mutants, the shorter time-to-kill makes a regular playthrough the easier way, especially if you combine it with other playthrough-based achievements. But for people who don't have a firm idea of what's coming and how to deal with it, having 7 full heals strewn about the level makes for a smoother ride with fewer reloads.

That being said, if you plan on getting the NG+ achievement eventually, doing a seperate no medkit run beforehand is simply unnecessary, since you automatically get that achievement as part of a NG+ playthrough.

If you mean the TR1 I did it no healing, pistols only, all items and secrets, all kills, 86 saves max, make all floor panels fall, finish max 5h and all other achivements along the way, it was quite a challenge but not impossible. Now I just need to speedrun the new game+ =)

nearly impossible therfore possible :D

Well okay it's not as hard as I thought because on Atlantis in that room with 5 switches I thought you had to pull all of them and were forced to take damage when pulling the switch on the right. But you don't have to pull it to open the underwater flesh doors.

Some of the enemies in Atlantis can be avoided, there's mostly two encounters that can be a problem. I actually did no medipack run in NG and imo TR1 is the most fair from the original trilogy for this kind of run (Probably the reason why it's the only one with this achievement). As long as you can use strong weapons it's not that bad, even with limited saves.

No medipack in TR2 is probably the worst because of the RNG with the many enemies with fire arms that can shoot at you before you can even aim, and other BS mandatory damage like the fall at The Deck that takes like 90% of your health.

I am in TR2 now and upset because there are not that many health packs available. I keep using them as I get them. I tried the cheat to get unlimited ammo/health but it doesn't work. I have to reload a saved area to try and not lose any health.

Since TR2 has a lot of gun enemies, try and either get a lock and then put enough distance between you and them so they can't hit you, or stay behind them (either by running circles around, rolling towards them, or jump flipping towards them). If you do that, you should have plenty of medpacks to spare.

As for the infinite ammo cheat, it's:

- light flare (hold the lit flare, do *not* throw it)
- 1 step forward (hold walk and press forward)
- 1 step backward (hold walk and press back)
- turn around 3 times (don't think direction matters, just that you do 3 full 360 degree rotations)
- jump backwards

Make sure you have enough room behind you to get in at least 3/4 of the backwards jump, otherwise it won't count. I can attest that it works, as I did it last night to quickly get through some levels to test something

Believe me I have tried this a good number of times. still not getting it. Must be something I am doing wrong when I am turning her around then jumping backwards.

Nearly impossible?..

I would argue moderately difficult at worst.. bit restricting but these games are not that hard.

I got the no medipack achievement along with the achievements for getting every single drop, secret, enemy kill and only using Lara's default guns.. and without going over the save limit for the Play it like you did on console in 1996 achievement.
I got almost every other TR1 achievement along the way too albeit a couple I missed like all the deaths, and one of the time pieces.

That was all in a single run of the game while reloading for a couple of others like Killing the Bald Guy with the Shotty, Natla with Magnums and having to complete some levels twice to avoid killing certain enemies like the T-Rex.

The Hardest part of it was having to fight Natla at the end of the game with basically no health.. she killed me a good few times before I took her down with Pistols only since she'd essentially one shot me with my health xD
Was a bit of a pain but doable without getting hit.

The only one I intentionally didn't try to do in the first run was the under 5 hour speed run which would have made it significantly harder.. specially going for all the kills and pickups which would waste a lot of time.
On it's own though the 5 hour speedrun achievement is very easy to get.
My time for that was 3:50:17, more than a hour under the required time.. and I got almost half the games secrets to stock up on ammo and health packs.

Overall TR1's achievements have been pretty easy, though im having trouble getting one of them to activate in Unfinished Business.. seems Bastet's Stash is bugged atm.

I am using the tank controls. I end up using the medipacks as I go. I managed to pickup quite a few in TR1, but I am in TR2 now. Too bad they don't carry over to each game.

Would be a bit broken if they did tbh..

Also play with Tank too, don't like the modern ones.

this thread is obviously to inform ->new players<- if they intend to do everything at once, and you spent 110hours on the first game alone, you shouldn't try to show off your cheevos hunting skill

actually I spent around 30 hours the rest I left my pc on while the game was running because I fell asleep LMAO I only can play late at night and I often fall asleep playing games and left the pc/console on and go to bed because most of the times I go to bed already sleeping while walking lmao. You can say I'm lying you believe if you want but I won't denny the game wasn't easy like I said previously, I had to do many tries (like 50+ on each level) and also using the crap moder controlls just to cranck up the difficulty, the tank controlls would be easier since I'm used to it. 😊

As I said it is not impossible and you can make all achievements in one playthrough except the NG+ (the kill all enemies I didn't get it because the devs screwed me adding 1 enemy in the collosseum level and I was already in atlantis wating for the fix of the usi ammo in the all blocking the achievement for all items, so I count I "did" all in one playthrough but in the end I'll get it in the NG+ hehe 😁
