According to Digital Foundry, the Classic Mode is capped to 30fps on all platforms
This is disappointing, to say the least. Hopefully they release a patch for this because it's a ridiculous limitation.

CRT monitors have their appeal for certain things but the weight and space they take up sure aren't their best features lol

What’s the deal with the stutter on pc

If you wanna old graphics, why are you spending money on remaster?

The two run in parallel, allowing a seamless switch; it's a two in one. The original is now in a form that can be played without hassle, or dgvoodoo.
So you're paying money for a 28 years old game to replay it with the same old graphics and in the same 30 FPS?

And I thought CoD players were the most gaslighted people into buying recycled content...

It's fixable via drivers.

Some people enjoy the aesthetic of the old graphics to add to the nostalgia and feel of it or to get to experience it close to the most authentic first time play people may have had (with those modern QoL benefits in getting it running without a whole retro hardware set up). I think it's great they included both so anyone can enjoy what they want at any time.

I personally want the updated controls. I've played the originals with the original controls and now I want to play the originals with the new controls. The updated analog controls is something that not even OpenLara and other recompilation projects have offered.

That's a good point. There's also that angle that for the people who have played TR a lot and love it this is all makes it feel fresh again! The built in camera system also looks cool and we could get a lot of nice screen shots from it.

That's right. Myself included. I only play old emulated games, PSX, SNES, PS2, I'm grateful for the emulators and their progression to allow me to play all the old games.
The new/modern games, apart from this remaster, never interested me.
I'm still finishing Bahamut Lagoon in the meantime before tomorrow.
I should check that game out too, thanks for mentioning it.

I do not know how you came to that conclusion, from a statement indicting the ability for players to seamlessly switch between classic and remastered mode.
How the player plays the game is of their own discretion.
Indeed it is. But you made it sound as if you're buying the remaster with the intention to play in original GFX only. And that's just stupid.

I wonder if the PC version will have mouse look support.

The original versions of these games are locked to 30fps anyway, aren't they. \(゚ー゚\)

According to Digital Foundry? Didn't you have eyes before they told you?
It's pretty clear in any video of the game on Youtube.

I don't mind it at all. Gives the classic vibes it should have.

This sucks. Oh well, Tank controls/Modern graphics was the plan for me for all 3 games, the modern controls look terrible for combat.

But og game was capped at 30 fps... what the problem with that? It is called classic mode for a reason...
IndigoAK Feb 13, 2024 @ 2:20pm
Because it doesn't need to be capped at 30fps. OpenLara, TR1X, TR2Main (and so on and so forth) adeptly show that you can preserve the original graphics and gameplay without the 30fps cap.

The fact that you can freely switch between the two visual sets on the fly suggests that the 30fps cap is purely artificial and as Digital Foundry pointed out, the 30fps limit can't actually keep the game locked at 30fps in practice anyway. Just remove the cap and let people play the original graphics at the same framerate.

In the end, I suppose it doesn't really matter. Somebody is going to mod at the framerate cap in a matter of hours probably.
