Best Tomb Raider classics vs best Tomb Raider custom levels?
e.g. Tomb Raider 2 or 3 vs Fading Light 2, UB4 or whatever your favourite one is.

Which would you say wins out and why?

imo The best custom levels are about on par with the first 3 or 4 tomb raider games, but are much better than TR5 which I didn't like very much.

No comments? Badassgamez claimed that for him, King Arthur Project was better than any of the classic Tomb Raiders. I was interested in seeing if there were any similar opinions out there.

He mentions that at 1 minute 10 seconds:

I just love how Sabatu took anniversary level design into consideration for many of the revised levels he made in Tomb Raider 1... i can't say the same feeling connects in his Sequel. but that might just be because we don't really have anything to compare with. however i say if you can you should immediately experience his Tomb raider 1 revised its so good. What TRLE's does so well is creating big epic environments due to not having the same limitations and i find some of the best examples of that is from Mist of Avalon or Himalaya Mysteries. i am not much into the horror TRLE's so i mostly go for those that capture the same with as indiana jones exploration type. as for unique TRLE's i say Kitten Adventure by delca was really good too. i am a bit of fan of Delca's work currently playing his legend demake. I think the best TRLE's are getting there in terms of quality but sometimes they have a bit to obtuse solutions to their riddles... a example is the fruit puzzle in Mist of Avalon.

I have yet to play King Arthurs Project myself it seems not my cup of tea... really as it does some weird things. xD judging by gameplay videos.

Thanks. I am the same as regards King Arthur Project, I didn't find the atmosphere particularly captivating, and so I never played it.

The difficulty levels of TRLEs varies, with some being considerably more difficult than others.
I personally think the classic Tomb Raider games had the perfect difficulty level, but having played quite a few of the custom levels I am very impressed with them. I never thought they would be as good and fun as they were.

I have already several on my backlog that i need to dive into xD but remasters takes priority as i really love to experience tomb raider gameplay but with better graphics its a first time and i can honestly say i am blown away how they managed to balance the details and lighting so well.
