I mean, that’s interesting, but it doesn’t really prove anything or tackle the question. More people are fans of Tomb Raider than have knowledge or opinions on Aspyr, so this is hardly a surprising result.
I noticed some people with doubts during the months of September-December when no material was published. But since they started marketing I see few complaints about Aspyr, even more so after learning that some famous modders have collaborated. I don't see that unease regarding Aspyr's work reflected anywhere, rather I think that fans have a lot of confidence in the project. Pre order numbers proof this.
That’s fair enough. I too have seen just how excited people have been getting and I’m among them myself. I just don’t really know what people’s initial issues with Aspyr were - and if it’s because they’ve made bad releases in the past, I’d like to know about it before being disappointed. After all, plenty of games with amazing trailers still release in a bad state.
If you have doubts, wait for the reviews and then decide
They also butchered the PC port of True Crime New York City.
And their pc port of Spider-Man Web Of Shadows wasn't also that good.
They are using AI upscaling and some of the textures shown in the reveal trailer were pretty poor. There was even an unfinished texture in one of the more recent Instagram posts.
Worried about possible censorship. While it looks like they aren't messing with her proportions, its still possible they censor other things like Willard calling a researcher 'retarded'. Red crosses on med kits are pretty much guaranteed to be censored. Nothing Aspyr or anyone can do about that as they'll get sued if they don't thanks to the Red Cross.
Kind of annoyed by the quality of enemy/animal models in TR 1 remaster vs. the other two. It seems like they're trying to be accurate to the original. The problem is TR 1 had goofier models to make them easier to visually identify. TR 2 was actually a huge upgrade in terms of looks. Just compare classic Lara model to TR 2 Lara model.

If you want an example, use the above link to compare the TR 1 Remaster Lion model compared with the TR 2 Tiger Remaster model.
I don't like what I'm hearing about the 'modernized' controls. While view aiming with mouse/right stick is fine, directional movement with the left stick is a bad idea. Tank controls for the game were used for a reason. I initially thought they were going for 'driving controls' with the 'modernized' controls. We'll see how it feels/animates once released. Demo darn it, want to test it.
Just general worries about 2024 new releases and remasters.
All of these worries aside, I have it pre-ordered and can't wait for the 14th to roll around to play them!
to be fair new york city is a crappy game in of itself it barley runs on ps2 and xbox is even worse.
That pc port was beyond terrible.
-No graphic options,
-game speed is inconsistant with the framerate,
-graphics are worse than the PS2 version,
-Controls layout is terrible.(You had to use numpads for melee attacks)
-Game was in some ways more buggier than the PS2 version
