Any news on how they'll handle the soundtrack?

As much as I respect Nathan McCree, I wouldn't want him tainting the goodwill of this remaster project.

I think this answers your question.

Why would he 'taint' the goodwill of this remaster? Some sort of drama?

Maybe higher res than the midi from 90s. Not that I'm complaining, but it'd be nice if the soundtrack gets a crisper update like the visuals.

It's a whole thing unfortunately.

Ah I see. So it's gonna be separated from the remaster. I was hoping it'll be like an add on to the bundle.

"...They always knew I was making them."

That...comes off very mean spirited. Idk why but not unexpected.

the "they know i was making them" has somehow the same spirit as mick gordon on the doom eternal debakel he just thinks himself above the developer of the game and now is pissed because they didn`t as him.

Such a shame really. You'd think he'd have a positive attitude given how fans of the original series were all thrilled to relive nostalgia. I guess he hasn't let go of the whole TR Suite thing, and neither am I haha

I don't agree with that given Mick was actually in contract when those problems were going on, whilst Nathan is not in contract for these remasters given what he's said, so it's a completely different situation.

But I agree Nathan's comments are quite spikey. Though I think it could just be some level of frustration because it seems he also has plenty of the original language audio for the cutscenes, which he could have provided for the remasters if they'd given him the chance. Instead it seems there are only subtitles for languages that could have had audio too.

remasters sometimes are made because of licensing
however, i'd buy the soundtrack on steam ... maybe

the soundtrack back then was CD quality
the medium had audio and program data on it

of course the digital version has mp3 but
a more advanced codec would be great

An orchestral rendition of the original score from TR123. It's really good however, opposite can be said behind the curtains. Should check it out. Some of the tracks are available on youtube, it's worth listening.

With that said, I'm wondering if this is the direction they would be going for if they had contacted Nathan. Maybe not 1:1 but a much added glow up like the one from the suite

I imagine modding in remastered versions of the tracks wouldn't be too hard...

Come to think of it. Would it be similar to TRLE you reckon?

I think they were probably asking about what happened behind the scenes with it, rather than what it is. I didn't actually know about this and looking it up I can't find many details with a quick search (which is surprising because usually every-man-and-his-dog makes a video or article about these kinds of things). Namely that there were production delays for the Kickstarter items, and an "ex production" member claimed there were financial difficulties, which Nathan denied. I'm presuming everything was delivered in the end, given they still sell a lot of items for the project to this day?

I'm happy they're not doing any major changes to the music already in the game.. but it would be nice to have some more subtle tracks accompanying the ambience of each area, at least in 'Remastered Mode'.

Yea, I didn't know about the drama until a friend told me it was on the forums, which I tend to avoid like a plague. Curiosity got the best of and me. There was also one bit on twitter where Nathan accused a fan for a fan made music. Idk, I just hope things are better now. I try to separate the art from the artist, especially when it involves something you grew up with but it's getting really difficult these days

Classic Tomb Raider is probably one of the franchises where the less you know about the behind the scenes the happier you are! The more I look into the development it sounds like each and every one of them hated working on the series from day one due to pressure and deadlines from Eidos.
