The problem is, there is a LOT more to fix with the later classic games. TR IV is pretty solid, V has a lot of glitches, especially in the last level. TR VI is a disaster.
A double pack remaster of TR IV & V is reasonably possible if this sells well. TR V in particular felt like an expansion of TR IV, as it was rushed and re-used assets and Lara's young & adult model.
Another problem with the continuity of the last 3 games is they foolishly used a real person's likeness and name without their permission. Jean-Yves is a real archaeologist, and he was not happy about his inclusion in TR IV. They replaced him with Charles Kane in TR V and this led to storyline issues when TR VI came out.
I never played Chronicles or Last Revelation when they were new, and I heard how bad TR5 was compared to TR4, but damn, TR4 was exhausting to play, it started out well, but by the time I got to the level "The Trenches", I was ready to tap out, I felt like I was playing Hexen with really obtuse goals and levels that all looked identical, TR5 had a lot of variety and while the levels were fairly straight forward, were enjoyable (I loved the submarine levels).
I wouldn't mind seeing the pair of them get remastered though, but I don't think there's much hope for TR6, it's a mess.
Agree about 6. It needs a complete remake, not a remaster.
For sure, a Remaster of IV, V, VI would be GRRRRREAAT!
This. Love the Egypt setting. I also really enjoyed the two "Lara Croft and the blankity blank" spin off games.
Angel of Darkness might be too much work though.
I agree. The first five Tomb Raider games are still my favorites from the series because they all use the block and grid system that I love so much. If Last Revelation and Chronicles are remastered at some point, I'll buy them without hesitation. I'm excited about the remastered collection, but it just doesn't seem complete without Last Revelation and Chronicles.
Yes but because of Eidos it's was never been the case sadly. After that Core design was fired and Crystal dynamics was hired for trying to make it up (yes i mean Legend and Anniversary etc and Underworld). and the last trilogy we know : Tomb raider (2013) Rise of the tomb raider (2015) and Shadow of the tomb raider (2018)
Apparently there is some fans one for AOD (Definitive edition something like that i think ?)
Honestly if Asphyr had bene able to ask fans for dubbing 'russian one) i clearly think it wil be good interest for them to ask if their can borrow and hel pay for their Definitive edition (witch is very good according to what i have see)
One of our most famous Youtubeurs "Joueur du Grenier" have made a video for Tomb raider witch present (still with some humor of course ) his history somewhat and what lead to the downfall of original ones.
Personnally i really loved it (cleverly writing between else same for acting)
But thing is sure: one of the mai problems was that originals fans was...say bored when we was in the TR4 era and after... so things have to evolved...so was AOD... yes several years not just the "push your game each year" mantra.
I know that much people have blame Crystal dynamics but deep down it's was not their personnal fault if we have come to this point, they have trying at least yes...there is good things.
Ironically the serie had changed and evole for something (i loves the old one but i like also the new ones, same can be said for Resident evil when you think about it, it had changed
Now we are in the mood rather "yes finally it's was not so bad before ...isn't it ?
It's there you realize the urden to reunite each time: classic things AND modern ones..even if you still keep the core of the games.
Think to Nintendo IP by ex.
Honestly i don't know for a say complete Definitive edition for AOD...No matter we won't never had the following planned entry sadly. Game had some ideas... on paper but sadly..it turn out otherwise.
I know that Core design had showed the scrip to public knowing if i remmber that they know that never they could do the other ones.
Maybe...it could be if some imagine the following entries (gameplay wise etc)
but if this remaster turns out good I'd love 4-5-6 to get a proper modern day remaster as well.
TR4 is one of my favorites. It had such a vibe.
Chronicles would be cool, and AoD remaster would be amazing although with all the preset camera angles I'm not sure how feasible it would be and it would still end up clunky at times without a 100% 3d camera. But anything to make that flaming pile actually playable.
i hope even if they not gonna touch TR6 we at least would get TR4-5 remasters since its pretty much same engine as TR1-2-3
