It probably was discussed between them though.
While I agree that it's dumb that people can't just lookup the Auto fix on Google or the Guides section for TR1 for example, I will say it'll be nice to have a version of the trilogy that doesn't require pissing about and the use of third party tools (using a controller, for example. I use Steam Controller and it works fine).
I think it'll be better at attracting new fans as well because they can play them hassle-free.
Edit: Forgot to mention: of course, I agree that having an out-of-the-box working version is always preferable. Just as long as it doesn't come at the expense of the original version.
Now having games that don't work in a digital game store is called preserving? My GOD.
What you say is ridiculous, you only express yourself that way because the game does work for you. When it stops working for you and you have to resort to the remaster no matter what, you will think differently. If they want to keep the original game in the store, the company should include the necessary fixes to make it work on the devices. It is not up to users to fix broken games! You are promoting bad practices!
But they do work, they just need some workarounds, as every other old PC game. They run pretty well on linux with wine. With your backwards logic, a lot of DOS games should be removed because they dont work natively on any PC of today.
My God. It is not up to consumers to fix broken games or have to install a multitude of patches to make them work. You know they are profiting from the game, right? The least they could do is ensure that it works on most computers. If they are not going to do it, the most logical thing is that they distribute the game for free. Stop defending bad anti-consumer practices!!!
The requirements they ask for the remaster are very low, I highly doubt that there are PCs that cannot move it and if there are it will be in a very small proportion. Also, people who have the original games won't lose it even if Steam stops selling it. The only thing I'm saying is that if the originals aren't going to be fixed, they should put them in for free.
