About the multiplayer

We've been reading your comments about Expeditions, and we're delighted to see your enthusiasm for the game!

The first previews of the game dropped on many websites and creator channels earlier this week and we’re pleased to read the positive feedback.

A question that has frequently come up, and that we'd like to address regarding multiplayer:

Co-op mode will be released in Expeditions as a free update a few months after the release of the game.

Co-op is an important feature, for both MudRunner veterans and newcomers. That’s why we want the multiplayer experience in Expeditions to feel as polished as possible, which means taking a few extra months.

Like our previous MudRunner game, SnowRunner, we have some exciting post-launch updates planned for Expeditions, which we’ll talk about soon.

probably not the best tactic honestly. Most people played the previous games solely with friends in co-op. Not having it until a "few months later" is a bad move, especially if it has a bad launch. people who would buy it day 1 (including me and 3 friends) now have no incentive to do so, and if the launch/game is bad, well then its just gonna cement a no buy.

also, the lack of multiple input support and manual trans option in snowrunner is baffling and why I pretty much quit playing it after upgrading my sim rig. 100s of hours on both console and pc when I was running all logitech, but after upgrading my sim rig to different brands, totally lost wheel support, and interest in snowrunner.

If I cant use all my gear that ive spent thousands on, on this game, its gonna also be a really tough sell for me. Especially when you consider there is literally no reason why it cant support multiple inputs. Every single driving game that has any resemblance of wheel support will recognize more then one input at once.

Its like you guys have totally alienated the core fanbase that made this series what it is in the 1st place. Why? Makes zero sense and is completely mind boggling. Without us this series would have never gotten past spintires. Remember that....

I have a feeling this is going down the drain like the Ghost Recon series.. It looks like a mud runner version of Fortnite too with all the fancy gadgets like "portable bridge" haha.. Guess they are shifting the focus away from the old loyal player base in a desperate try for innovation. Hope I will be proven wrong but this doesn't look very promising

It really makes no sense. These companies, they see time and time again how those decisions fail and the games flop. Yet they all always seem to double down on it and other devs/publishers follow. If you want successful sales maybe stop doing things that nobody wants. You dont need a masters degree in business management to figure that one out...

Yet it continues to be a thing that keeps happening not only in the so called "AAA" space but also the "AA" and indie space too.

I personally believe it was never meant to have co-op in it. Expeditions is pretty much Snowrunner with all the 'problems' stripped out. All the little bits and pieces they could never completely fix has been removed or replaced with something else (which includes muliplayer). I'm willing to wager that Focus pushed the multiplayer requirement onto them at a later date (hence why its not done at release).

1. Will there be progress for all of the participants in Co-op or only the host as in SnowRunner?
2. Will there be a chat available like in MudRunner?

Couldn't you just take the networking/co-op component from mudrunner, obviously rework it, and incorporate it into expeditions?

Anyone know if cross-platform co-op is going to be available for this game? Been searching around but I haven't been able to find anything concrete. Would like to play with my buddies on Xbox.

Thank you for the clarification and communication, i understand it isn't coming with release but Co-op is a must for me so i will purchase it once the promise is fulfilled.

yea im going to wait till they finish co-op. no point in buying a single player game. big miss not having multiplayer at launch. you almost got me on that one till i googled expedition multiplayer.

I played all the MudRunnerGames because there was co-op and now it's just not there. That's really sad and now I don't know whether I should even buy it, even if coop comes along at some point.

Bought pre order. played for 3 hours. Only bought to play Co Op, as with all the games we play, And now we have to wait MONTHS.. if ever.. I want my $ back.

how are u going to release a game the everyone gets for the MP and then not even have it on release this company has come a long way down the hill.... might refund bc the only reason i bought it was for the MP
game DEVS do better no one wants an unfinished game and nit just these devs all devs
