Anyone else a little disappointed?
I haven't really played snowrunner much, maybe 10 hours, so I don't have a huge frame of reference to compare this game to. I was really excited for this game. Now that I've tried it, it just feels... lazy. The camera controls feel wonky, the actual "missions" when you get to locations feel awkward, and the general design feels very lazy. They didn't even model the fuel tanks properly, for some of the trucks it's literally just a rectangle, even if the fuel tank isn't that shape. Not to mention the fuel overlay rectangle is even bigger than the actual fuel tank for some trucks! The mission text and the radio popups are in broken english, some of the descriptive text on upgrades makes no sense (the reinforced bumpers provide "decent" protection, when the heavy bumpers provide "great" protection, even though the reinforced bumpers cost more). I'm sure this game may get better in the future, but it just feels really lazy all around. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Nope - needs a lot of polish!

I am extremely sick of games releasing without any polish and then slowly being fixed over time. I remember the days when you could buy a game, and it would already be polished, and you wouldn't have to wait three months after release for it to be good; imagine that. Hopefully, this scummy business tactic will die out in the future.

Then why do you buy them?
FafnirChaos Mar 3, 2024 @ 6:14pm
You see the funny thing is about your entire argument is that you think all old school games came out 100% polished - that is not true - what-so-ever. There are games out there that are cartridge based and have permanent bugs in them, from the snes area. Those games you would either have to deal that bug, or buy an updated version of the game.

Everything in this game - with everything it has going on would melt old systems - a broken "lazy" game would be one you could not play - This game you can play start to finish - no problems - even my excessive grind that would cause problems is still stable.

Finally as my previous statement, if you knew that these games "Now-a-days" have all of kinds of bugs and are not polished or anything else when their released - You KNEW that full well from your statement "I am Extremely sick of games releasing without any polish" - yet you still bought the game. - If someone came up to you and said "I'm going to sell you this Item, but before hand I'm beat the living crap out of you with it before I give it to you - However if you wait 3-6 months after I'll just give you the item" and you proceed to buy it - you get your beating because you think you can take it, however after 20 items you bought from them, you come out and say "I'm sick and tired of getting my ass beat" and you buy the item anyways - when you could easily just wait 3-6 months. IDK.

Reviewing the game based solely on a few minutes or hours in the starter map is not an accurate representation of the full game experience. It's a basic starter map which is more like a tutorial for new players.

My thoughts are... I have a little time in this one but several hundred in Snow runner
I think snow runner feels better the menu and HUD looks better less complicated and as for the drone and the new tech they could have added that ALL in on snowrunner but it was not as profitable as making a "new game" The Expedition feels like a Softer more "friendly" version of Snow runner

Im not saying the game is bad i dont have enough time to make that call but so far i prefer Snow runner since i still have many many hours of DLC to play on snowrunner

Welcome to the world of the laziest dev team in the industry. I've played over 2000 hours on SR sand many of the simplest things that drive us hardcore players crazy have still never been fixed. But we keep playing because it's a bl00dy brilliant game if you like driving and logistics.

An example of their laziness is the tutorials in this game which are terrible - an example is "Altar" on the first map where you have to do some weird scanning thing that keeps failing and you have no idea why! (Turns out you hit space at a certain point of the scan but there no information or tips op up the first time you're faced with this. It's this laziness they're known for.

Apart from the laziness in design and implementation, my main gripes so far are the utterly unrealistic fuel consumption and having to sell everything when you go back to the garage.

However, having said all that.... it's really growing on me. I've only played about 10 hours and I'm now quite enjoying it after the first few hours where I hated it, with the stupid controls and incomprehensible inventory and sideboard control (however designed that screen should be shot!) but now I'm getting more comfortable with it and starting to enjoy using the drone and binoculars, much better winching and having to really plan routes in detail. The vanilla trucks are mostly too awful for words though so I've caved already and got the modded LS1700 from MrBusses, https://mod.io/g/expeditions/m/loadstar-1700-rockbiter-by-mrbusses. I've set it up not to be OP but just enough so that it's not constant frustration. I also got the mod for more realistic fuel consumption as the game consumption is totally ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure I'll keep playing while I wait for the next year pass of SR but when that arrives I'll be heading back there with glee.

Just so were clear here, I'm not here to collect points - you can keep your points(I have more than enough) - If I need or want points I'll buy something on steam - If you value someones opinion more you can give them the awards and points instead.

Your clown award spam is what's causing all these problems on steam in the first place - if you gave points to people who's opinions you valued as opposed to rewarding trolls and instigators - we wouldn't have 40+ discussions of the exact same thing of bots trying to bleed you dry of your points.

Many of these thread starters, probably didn’t even touch the specialist?
This game is deep, and has fairly advanced physics.
Even the best mobile games I tried, doesn’t compare to this.

This game is about planning expeditions, which needs some thinking, maybe that’s the problem for some?

this game is worse then snowrunner

Snowrunner, which I like very much with hundreds of hours, is about getting stuck and then getting stuck some more.

Where Expeditions is about planning an expedition, more driving with correct gear.
More thinking with what specialists to choose.

In snowrunner everything is more simple.

And I understand why some think this game is hard, it’s because they compare it too much with Snowrunner.

I watched some people streaming the game last night and was thoroughly not impressed. I would classify this more as a Snowrunner DLC than a stand alone game.

I don't think it's the core gameplay thats the problem. It's the wonky way they Implemented it.
