Scrap & Mission Rewards

I did the first main mission, picked up bones and scrap, & delivered the equipment. At the end summary screen, it seemed to have given $$ for the bones but not for the scrap. I don't see an obvious way to handle scrap in the garage either. Does anyone know what to do with it? Also the reward for the mission was a heavy front bumper which was already available for purchase. It doesn't indicate what vehicle it's for either. If anyone can help explain I'd appreciate it. Thanks

On the second map after a few missions you get access to a workshop building where you turn scrap into repair parts. You can use these for repair or buy jacks

how do you even sell things? i thought delivering the items to the base did since thats all i was shown in "training". did the next mission and it was all still there.
