Hidden Traces

Has anyone actually completed this mission? I do not see anything obvious that stick out as dinosaur tracks and the camera mini-game is terrible.

I don't know right now, if I have done excactly this mission. But I've done a dinosaur traces mission already.

The square on you camera hud gets bigger, if you move away from the next objective and smaller, if you get closer. If you finished one trace, the next trace will show its direction by a small "shock wave". That's all, you need to know.

Shouldn't be to hard. There are several missions like this and I've done at least a couple of them without issues.

It's not that style, it's a camera where you adjust the blur and you have to have the tracks in focus before taking the picture. I don't see any tracks anywhere and have tried taking multiple pictures from the vantage it provides and it always tells me I don't have the tracks in view or focus. It's extremely odd. I know of the missions you're talking about, I have completed those without problems.

Well, okay. In those mission, you have to adjust the camera in three ways, right? You have to look at the target, you have to set the right focus and you have to set the right zoom.

Should be even easier then the drone scanner mission, I've mentioned above. Just adjust every "setting" until their indicator gets green (green border for the right motive, green zoom bar and green focus bar).

Edit: I haven't done this exact task, yet. So, if you can't get all "settings" green, I can't say if you encountered a bug or if there is something special about that task.

Edit 2: I've done the first objective of this task. Worked as expected. Had to move around the cam a bit more than at similar tasks before to find the trace, but nothing special.

I have not seen a green indicator at all, I must be missing something. I assume there are no actual tracks, and if there are they're incredibly hard to see. I wonder what I'm missing here. Did you start zoomed all the way out and moving the camera around to find the green before then zooming in / adjusting focus?

I remember one of the dinosaur tracks just a few feet away from the quest marker or from your truck.

Here are all three traces. I start completely zoomed out. Then I rasterize the landscape with the camera until it beeps / the screen turns green. Then I try to narrow down the exact spot. As soon as I have the spot, I do the zoom and focus settings.

I had problems finding too, so i came to this post, because I was looking head in the direction truck was,
But now I know if the camera is to far away from the truck, then the marks can be near the truck.

I eventually left that mission and moved on, I'll try it again on my next expedition. I did end up completing the mission that has the same mini-game mechanics that has you picturing the docks, so I know how it works. I just could not get any beeps or anything on my first attempt at the hidden traces spot. I'll try again hopefully tonight to see if I can pinpoint it. Thanks for the pictures, nice to know you can actually see the tracks!

Yeah, most "take a picture" missions have obvious objectives like lakes or watch towers - something we don't really have to search for. This mission is slightly different, because we can't actually see the traces until the camera has found them. Not because, they are not there, but because they are not standing out like the bigger POIs. They are just to small and inconspicuous.
