What are the new icons?

I have seen one that looks like a Pokemon ball with lines under it and a pair of binoculars. I went to the binoculars and nothing was there. Looked around with them and didn't show anything.

I am not sure, but the binoculars icon may only show you a location that you should use the binoculars.

What am I supposed to be "viewing"? I looked all around and nothing was different. I just did a mission and that Pokeball thing has something to do with that water scanning mini game. Just did a Expedition that used it.

the poke ball is the same as the depth detector but it I think only notes a body of water that is scan-able.
