look at who got their hands on the IP now it's the same dude who re-releases WalletZ every couple of months under a new name.
That is a mega shame :/ this game had such a great vibe to it. Would love to play its early access state again... Is there any other title that best captures what Nether did? Struggling to find one.
I suggest if you haven't already try getting a group together and play or make a faction war etc
either way, it does a great job just never got the support it needed post release.
I recall another nether game was in the works (or was already there but was slow as many didn't trust or want nether back yet people than cry later saying the opposite) by another name (can't recall for the life of me, and was going to be updated and extended with support/updates) but didn't hear much news on it, especially with a lot of negative people here always ready to dump on anything that doesn't require their effort but that's life.
For games like nether, I can't fully say, if your looking for atmosphere there are a few I have on hand but that depends on taste and what your exactly looking for
reach out if you want to talk about it.
but I disagree with it being dead fully dead, it has its fans even here we speak, a few but the game doesn't really need that many people.
if people care about it, they can host servers, do RP, play the game normally PVP or PVE, etc, just depends on peoples tastes
and what stops people from making their own version/clone
or influencing other creators by showing them nether, via concepts, art, etc
nothing is fully dead unless its fully inaccessible and forgotten
clearly, it still has a legacy.
It probably lives through other peoples views and works
As mentioned above, there is another game exactly like nether getting updates so there can be hope but I personally don't know.
I don't know what has happened with the game, but this is the sequel/revival/part 2
have they made progress, I don't know
reviews say no, but my friend says otherwise, and I see they have achivements and other elements
only time will tell.
the second game I linked, I'm merely letting time judge it (its rumored fans got the rights or someone else honestly who knows)
Meaning its baseless, only I can judge it from either now or in the future when I decide to pick it up
as even players opinions are biased and don't scratch or cover it
is it still being worked on? is it a "another try to grap some money from you."
well the first game, refunded a lot of peoples money when they were shutting it all down if I recall, the second game I have no information
and it would be foolish to make quick assumptions about anything anymore
a good example is No man sky
even after all its bad PR from well its lack luster debut as it was simply being show cased by a poor guy (the lead director who once you studied) was a anti social person who was kinda forced up there and was a mental wreck and people and himself put words into the games mouth out of fear of social awkwardness
they later turned the game around, and it lived up to its hype and then some
I never intended to dive into it till my friend who has been telling me for years got me the game
and my mind was surprised and it was refreshing in too many ways
on that note, I hope and wish nether as a series the best of luck
as there is too much to enjoy as well as expand, explore.
this game in my eyes is worth more than is current asking price, even at original asking price it nailed an atmosphere and added plenty of visual story telling
a lot of fun mechanics that could of been expanded or added more
it has still to this day a solid foundation
and it inspired a lot of other games after its time as there were games going there but not as nitty gritty
closest you can find before that is stalker, metro, but those are their own respective SP games and some with a late splice of a MP mode
nothing like this
(to give an example Dayz etc)
is it sad it was left in its state, yes
is the game bad, in my perspective no, it has a lot to offer but thats coming from a person who can enjoy many perspectives looking at the world
is the game playable? yes it is, especially if you can get people together its a blast
can you go solo? yes but will give a different experience but thinking back from mp experiences or scenarios and its kinda easy to see why many were either afraid to go anywhere and had a hard time yet made it a good rush and studying players to predict routes
like if you were gun running, box running, etc
it was fun and not many games allowed such a consistent experience (gameplay loop) along with factions in game mixing the situations and relationships
I can go more but good times were had and still could if people cared to play and be in good spirit instead of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the game/games and just coming to add negativity onto every post they do
those people just drag things down and are exhausting and taxing
like we get it, you want to ♥♥♥♥ on the game, as it appears you are not unique or adding anything to the conversation, just making it a toxic battleground where ever you go
here on steam forums, teamspeak, discord, any social media platform, etc
and its no wonder why its a breeding ground for the negative and good people leave or don't even try it or be inspired to make their own game/work on it.
To add from what i remember awhile back:
-modding was tried in this the original didn't work
-OG map had to be replaced and remade entirely b/c of the engine limitations you couldn't add new parts to it
-new game title basically same crap but under a new title name and again the same person who re-released WarZ under a different name every couple of years.
I appreciate the brief breakdown.
it just makes me wonder if this game has been mimic'd/ attempted again in the gaming sphere/market as its hard finding a game like this with its type of flow while its alive.
as it harkens onto past as you mentioned "nostalgia" be it a concept or experience
good concepts do keep people around.
As for the You-tuber part, I'm not sure who that is directed to, as you were not at all specific and was mainly apologetic
all I can say personally for you as a stranger, is that people are fickle and have what I call "fading interest"
we all re-prioritize our values and interests one day to a moments notice
I appreciate the heart but know you are good
and if you do care to direct this to an individual, might as well write them a personal message as you spend the time
write about your past self, look back to what you once were and how things were different
talk about how you have changed and how either your interest or the creator changed
and how you would go back if they could fill for a position of attention you can set a time block for
(think about a person watching comedy an hour everyday on TV)
you can easily describe how one can do it (personally) like the type of humor, quality, production value, etc
and remember that not everyone is made for everyone and everything so everything is okay
anyways that's my two cents on it as I thought and was right on how fun it was to transcribe that here and share this with the people who happen to glace here
I wish everyone a wonderful day and to take care.
zombie/mutant open world survival craft genres specifically are cursed af to fail forever.
Just like Yandere simulators.
Idk why but they all seem to have the literal same bugs (probably same free engine softwares):
-same type of bugs
-inconsitencies on updates
-crashes and lag
-hackers!!!!! BIG ONE RIGHT HERE!!!! seems no good anti cheat has been made as of lately
-lack of community servers and admin controls = hackers run amock
-all early access (that alone is already a sign of yup it'll probably fail
there are only about 3-4 games i've seen actually make it somewhat:
-Rust but it's more pvp
-Unturned but graphics are heavily reduced and they had admin / mod support for awhile but they still got breached since battlenet isn't 100% either but hey it's an attempt
-Dead Frontier 1 and 2 but it's more RPG than survival crafting
-DayZ but that's like the or one of THE FIRST so it's like yeah nothing bad has happened yet and infact influenced alot of these type of games.
*Give a ♥♥♥♥, at least a minimum*
and they would be rolling in it
but as you said, they just have the same problems, I feel you there
we are just waiting for one to legit be "The one"
