To sum it up
E.A. happened
not the company the tag early access

early access games look good but any schumck with unity or $50 can basically make a game.

long story short game started out nice and promising like any other E.A. game

took a nose dive with p2w gold mechanics and game breaking bugs
hackers ran amock (which happens in almost every multiplayer survival game)
ignored community + unecessary ♥♥♥♥ like the wastelands or the long gone arena gamemode to get items in normal survival. Arena, mind you, also was only for premium package users
devs pulled the plug on official servers

then after like 1 month of radio silence

game resurrected again
devs added single player and player runned servers
tried to build up the game's fanbase again by modding tools
last news was almost 2 years ago, maybe more.

tl;dr
another E.A. title game with a shiny polished trailer wtih gameplay that doesn't live up to expectations nor the hype. A NMS experience after awhile only it started out actually decent but took the nosedive later on. Game passed around by several devs but it was doomed to fail once the hacker problem could not be addressed.

I can't excerice this enough, The original devs were not the owners of the game. The owners decided once the devs got to a spot they would switch devs and that happened multiple times which killed the game QUICK. Phospher games was the original devs and a team that wanted to make this game something great. Heck back on the forums myself and a few others were the ones that gave the idea for a whole Underground railway system. We had maps and everything for the devs and they did make it. But after it was taken from phospher the game just went down. They did get it back, and added Player ran servers which was great to see so we could keep it alive. But its a very NICHE group still left. I still watch the forums here but I haven't really played it much. The little that I have CptBlakes server is easily the best. The Watchers if I'm correct.

so main reasons:

1 no updates in a long time
2 they did ignore community
3 hacker problem, but isn't valve available for any steam game?
4 pay to win

I know

Bad thing is all E.A. games have a ton of unique and great concept, but fall super short when it comes to doing and fixing things they didn't expect: crashes, hackers, etc.

In this case bad mishandling of the game through management and nothing done about the hacker problems screwed everyone up. I mean the hacker problem could've been made super easy with if they just implemented player runned servers and PVE rather than focus on how to milk the dead horse even more.

Sadly it wasn't the original devs whom did this, it was the ones we were given after the game somewhat started picking up popularity (i remember reading an IGN or maybe game informer article that nether was an up amd coming game which sorta encouraged me to buy it when it went on sale). Seems the higher ups wanted more money amd NOW instead of focusing how to make this game give money in the long run.

He probably wasn't around for it so if he wasn't

to the other guy!!!!

This game had very p2w mechanics (you could buy using nether gold aka the microcurrency used in game; backpacks, cosmetics, water, food, ammo, and even guns). You also had to basically use the gold to buy golden keys to open literally golden trash bins full of loot (They usually contained a random weapon, ammo, nether parts, and high grade health, food, and drink items).

It was only with the last update (after the servers shutdown and were restarted with single player and player runned servers added) that p2w was basically abolished as was arena mode (never heard of it ever again, and In a way good riddance).

In fact there were premium packages that gave players nether gold and promised them free future dlc (in this case there was only the damn b.s. arena gamemode).

Game died because hackers happened and because the developers ran out of steam and stopped releasing content patches and handed development over to another team. Long story short, the best way to describe the day was DayZ with half the ♥♥♥♥ cut out and premade teams, so like Infestation: Survivor Stories.
I've heard that hacked items could cause VAC bans to occur on player accounts that picked up hacked items, and that allegedly they were strewn around to catch as many people as they could. Without an effective anticheat it's obvious that would happen.
Also the game didn't run very well and I personally needed to disable a lot of settings to make it playable.

actually survivor infestation died b/c the original WarZ or WalletZ as more infamously known tried milking as much money as possible, but the devs were also a bunch of A-holes that kept banning people both the forums but also in-game as well making their purchases void while not refungind them. Valve got wise and pulled the plug and now they don't do any more b.s. moves but the games keep coming back under a new name every single time but same b.s. and people are quick to point it out b/c they get a free copy of the "new" version that gets released.
the community is what killed the game. no matter when you played, it was ALWAYS like DayZ in regards to everyone you see KOSing everyone else. the COMMUNITY was pure cancer and did absolutely nothing but complain about every single change and addition no matter what it was. the OWNERS of the game had long since made their money, and clearly saw no advantage to maintaining a game where 90% of the users ONLY came on the forums to hate on the game, and ONLY played the game to grief others.

That video does miss a few things, like us getting locked out of the old forums after purefps took over, first for commenting and then completely. And the largest portion of the anger on "release" came from the accompanying party video that we were shown, when we all knew it was nowhere near ready.
Phosphor was nowhere near blameless as regards the state of the game when they "left", then PureFPS extracted way too much p2w cash from the new players who didn't know better before the plug was pulled on the servers.
You could still be tricked into buying Nether even after the servers were gone, steam ended up de-listing it, not the owner.

Wrong engine, inexperienced devs, bad owner, toxic community and overall mismanagement.

Best fun I ever had.
