How do you play?

I'd really like for this game to do well. It's just missing a few things and needs a few tweaks. I hope some of, or any of, this is helpful. I couldn't get past the part in the tutorial having to do with floors. All I'm able to get from the workbench is diner booths. I tried replaying it a few times to see if I did anything wrong that would prevent whatever is suppose to happen next from triggering, but after you hire a chef and he cooks the 3 raw chickens, nothing else happens until nightfall where I was...
