Can everyone shut up about Twin Peaks?

Seriously... Every single review I see for this game won't shut up about how its so like Twin Peaks. I highly doubt every single reviewer has even seen Twin Peaks, they just say it because everyone else says it. Same goes for these forums. Never even heard of twin peaks before all you people spewed out of your mouth how much of a homage to twin peaks it is, same goes for reviewers. Almost as bad as the dark souls community.

I've seen Twin Peaks several times, back to back. Actually the lack of clear conclusion to the show led me to finding Deadly Premonition (so, thanks ABC at least for that :)).

I haven't seen Twin Peaks yet, is it true that there are many parts of twin peaks that deadly premonition rips off? Would watching twin peaks for the first time after having played through deadly premonition destroy the good impression that deadly premonition left on me? (to be precise, my impression is that it is the greatest game I've ever played)

It's got a huge cult following, it's on Nerflix, and it was only two seasons. Is it that hard to beleive many people have seen it?

Watching Twin Peaks shouldn't ruin anything about DP. They're different stories. The main similarities are that both stories are about quirky FBI agents who come to a small town near Canada to solve a murder mystery.
