Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut

Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut

Throw me a frickin' bone here.
I see no helpful PDF manual for this game in its game files, nor any sort of helpful screen anywhere in the game that will point me to the answers I need:

Can anyone give me a rundown on exactly HOW to interact (by which I mean a list of the keys that are used) with:

> the strange page you get when you hit 'escape'

> the 'map' page

> the 'toolbox' function

> how to access and use the INVENTORY itself

I've been looking for this info everywhere and I simply cannot find it. How does anyone play this game without knowing the controls? I mean seriously, it took me 30 minutes to figure out how to quit the game last night without zapping it from my task manager.

Everything you need to know is write on the bottom of the screen, then if you use an xbox controller A is for "enter/accept" and B for "escape". If you dont use any sort of controller dont play this game, it would ruin the experience.

I played the whole game with keyboard and mouse. Didn't have any bad experience.

Hit Escape to get to the main menu. Use the WASD keys to navigate through the different menus. E to select.
I just need an actual list of the key commands used in the PC version. I do not use a controller.

Also, the function keys outlined from noob faqs would be very handy to know (the PC equivalent of them that is).

I mean these sort of things:

ACTION SHORTCUTS
◦ to open doors quickly, press A while running into them
◦ to go straight to the map screen, hit Select, not Start
◦ to speed up text, hold B
◦ to skip the "you got X item" screen, hit start
◦ to skip getting in/out of the car animation, hit start
◦to skip Profiing and most cutscenes, hit start (you still get money if you activate Profiling and skip it using this method)
◦ to toggle between Item and Toolbox screens while in the toolbox, press the shoulder triggers
◦ to turn around instantly, pull back on the stick while tapping X
◦to stop York from talking while in a car (you cannot access the Start menu when he's talking), exit the vehicle.
◦to stop York from pushing something even after it's gone as far as it can go, let go of the A button just before you want him to stop (for example, if you continue to hold forward and A when pushing a crate into a wall, the animation will continue for a few unnecessary seconds.)
◦to switch from window to window instantly while peeping in windows, hit the bumper buttons

Well ive played this game with a controller because keyboard/mouse drived me crazy after one hour, imo you should really think about getting an xbox controller for this game (for some game its just a must have like for dark souls for example), its up to you.

Cant help more sorry, good luck !

oh for this ! Well just convert the button to keyboard so A must be E...etc

Im not sure about all but ill try:

◦ to open doors quickly, press A while running into them
Run + E

◦ to go straight to the map screen, hit Select, not Start
Well...no idea, must be something like M...maybe

◦ to speed up text, hold B
I think its escape ? Whatever it is dont skip dialog !

◦ to skip the "you got X item" screen, hit start
Start=Escape

◦ to skip getting in/out of the car animation, hit start
Escape too

◦to skip Profiing and most cutscenes, hit start (you still get money if you activate Profiling and skip it using this method)
Escape again but why would you do this ?!

◦ to toggle between Item and Toolbox screens while in the toolbox, press the shoulder triggers
Must be a MouseButton

◦ to turn around instantly, pull back on the stick while tapping X
In around 40h of playtime ive never used this...idk sorry

◦to stop York from talking while in a car (you cannot access the Start menu when he's talking), exit the vehicle.
Dont do this ! But its should be Escape

◦to stop York from pushing something even after it's gone as far as it can go, let go of the A button just before you want him to stop (for example, if you continue to hold forward and A when pushing a crate into a wall, the animation will continue for a few unnecessary seconds.)
A=E, this is just a trick to get.

◦to switch from window to window instantly while peeping in windows, hit the bumper buttons
You will never look at any windows more than 1-2 times cause it do nothing so i dont know forget it ^^

Again, im not sure about all, i dont remember the original keyboard correctly...

They fixed it? We do have one of the things but I never use it over on this machine. Would still like to hear what the actual PC keyboard/mouse controls are, preferably from a developer. Why no simple manual with the keys explained in it? Seems ridiculous to me.

Yea ! Seriously use it, put use the default control...even if you dont like running with trigger or shoot with bumper, rebinding the controller dont work. Anyway the default control are perfect and it would make your life a lot more easier :)

I cant see any manual anywhere sorry.
