I tried everything on these forums to fix my startup crash problem, nothing worked untill i did this and fixed my problem,
note : You WILL have to run this repair again if installing new games that use PhysX
thanks to steam user 'Sapper Wang'!
I saw this on a post. Worked for me and about 40 others. Hope it works for you.
Then when I go to "Install", it says in an NVIDIA PhysX window that "The currently installed version of the drivers is newer than what you are trying to install, aborting the installation" which I have to cancel out of.
Do I have to sacrifice a goat or something first SWERY65?
Hopefully a solution pops up soon.
More hopefully Valve and SWERY get together to make better patches for this game one day. Puts "fun" back in "functionality"
Try uninstalling PhysX and then run the installer on the redist folder, see if that does anything. Or maybe you already tried and this advice is useless lol.
No luck with that either.
And moreover, will people be refunded for this defective product?
What works for me is this: I run DP.exe directly with Win XP compatibility (this fixes an error message about a missing PhysX DLL). It's windowed because for some reason adding -fullscr (the way the launcher runs it) makes it hang before the first intro video, but you can use dpfix to get fullscreen working.
(I'm on Win 8.1 if that information helps anyone)
