Edit: And a reboot fixed all issues. WTF how badly was this ♥♥♥♥ coded
I've tried everything and I mean EVERYTHING to make it work! Everything in this guide, everything in Lucky's guide, everything anyone ever suggested in any forum on the internet since 2013, tried to run it in compatibility mode (98/ME, XP SP3, Windows 7/8, "Run as Administrator"), tried the GOG-version, tried all combinations of forceWindowed, borderlessFullscreen AND in-game Fullscreen mode, always tried both the Launcher and DP.exe with every major change of "variables", tried to run RTSS in the background, tried not to run RTSS in the background, started the game multiple times right after a clean restart, tried to uninstall, reinstall and repair PhysX, tried different settings in Nvidia control panel, tried to set the virtual 360-controller as the default game controller, tried exclusive mode in DS4Windows-settings, tried different versions of DS4Windows and similar programs like reWASD, tried different versions of DPfix, tried different versions of SweetFX, tried different resolutions and other graphics settings aaaaaaaaand THE GAME IS ALWAYS A F*CKING SLIDESHOW THAT PERSISTENTLY REFUSES TO PROPERLY RECOGNIZE THE STICKS AND D-PAD INPUTS OF MY PS-CONTROLLERS!
And the frustrating irony of it all: I've already played the whole game a couple of years ago with almost the same setup - at 60FPS, 1080p without any problems whatsoever! (apart from an unavoidable crash in a later chapter where I needed a savefile but I guess that's "normal")
Anyway, I wasted WAY too much time on this BS already, so I thought maybe I should get this game for PS3 instead and then pray that I don't have to actually play it on a PS3 but somehow get it to run on an emulator. And you know what? IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM INSTANTLY! 60FPS, 4K, 16xAF, no visual glitches, controller recognized, no input lags, no savegame problems, no crashes! (with a stock 6700K!).
At least that's the case with older versions of rpcs3, like 0.0.12-10844 - later versions seem to cause annoying shadow flickering.
So, we've come to a point in time, where it's easier and more straightforward just to emulate the PS3-release of DP on a PC than to perform all of these strange occult rituals to get the native PC-version to work... if you're lucky!
I'm happy for the majority of people who managed to overcome all the problems that I had, but for everyone else I can only recommend buying this game used for PS3 on eBay (at least if you own a PS3 or a Blu-Ray drive; maybe the 360-version with Xenia also works, but I don't know about that - from my understanding Xenia is still rather experimental), dump the game files, set up rpcs3 correctly (which is really not that complicated, compared to the rocket science that you'd have to do in this guide alone) and then just enjoy playing this great game from start to finish, which should be step 1 of 1 anyway!
If you have a half decent PC, find an ISO dump and play it there, after buying a legit version of course!
