i can't cut the cake???

so i'm playing this game for the first time ever and i got to curly's cake cutting scene but i can't do ♥♥♥♥ no matter what i do or press i looked it up and people were saying it uses mouse movement but i use a trackball mouse so am i just ♥♥♥♥♥♥?

move your mouse up and down, as if you would saw the cake. hope this will help
