Is Mouthwashing a real horror game for real men or is one of those quirky horror games for girls?
I can't play real horror games, they are too spooky, but I can endure horror visual novels and RPG maker games. Is this game very scary? I want to play it to understand the memes that my friends share.

It is a walking sim with stylised PS1 like graphics and mildly disturbing story.

Jus watch a playthrough or something if you can't handle horror games

It's less "scary" and more "disturbing".

From what i saw of the demo, and the promotional game, and assuming it continues with those vibes, its a psychological horror. From what ive heard theres no real 'monster' other than the people on board the ship as theyre driven into absolute madness. Lovecraftian is probably the most apt description.

No, i've played the whole game, there are monsters in it. Your mileage may vary on how scary particular elements of the game are, but there is basically every horror trope in the game - slasher, monster, gore, body-horror, psycholgoical, jump scares.

Neither of those were to me particularly scary, it's no Amnesia or Outlast. It is very much disturbing however.

- no. Lovecraftian is about existential dread of a greater unknown.

oooooo. very exciting :D
As long as it doesnt have convoluted 'backtrack to find the tiny key on the same colored table while having to maintain lantern light to the point that the monsters start pissing you off because of all the time you've wasted' like amnesia had, i think everything will be all good.

- its a walking sim. It simply cant have anything like that. You just go between script triggers and watch sceenes. Thats it. Considering subject matter, it can be disturbing, but it is hardly scarry unless you are really impressionable person. No need to dunk or real horror games with actual gameplay.
I would say it's a quirky thriler game for everybody. I certainly didn't got a "yup, this is made for gurls" vibe from it. Especially as you play the story of quite of a dude in it. I wouldn't call it a horror game though.
