The game crashes on startup HELP
I had this game working on my laptop yesterday I just finished the first mission then exited the game. Now when I started the game today it just crashes before it gets to the intro missions. It comes up with Hitman:contacts is not working. Also of note it no longer gives me the option to go to config. I have win8 64bit. i3 processor and an intel HD 4000 graphics card. Any help?

I reinstalled this game twice now. Once in the same place it was before(teh steamapp default) Got the same error. The second time in a diffient location. It started perfectly. I started the first mission then exited the game. Then i started it up again just to make sure.It failed in the same way as before.I checked folders and notice something called error.log.It seems way too low level to be of any pracitial help.
It also doesn't exist when I try and delete it (error.log) and yet I can read it just fine?

I just had the exact same problem. Go to your install location, right click the .exe and set compatibility mode to XP SP3. That seems to work for me (Running Win 8.1 x64)
