Hitman: Contracts

Hitman: Contracts

I can't. Just how do the guards keep seeing through my disguise and blow my cover???
Just as prep, *I am familiar with Hitman*, having played HITMAN 2016 fully through and grabbing most challenges. However, in this game specifically (and Blood Money), guards somehow can telepathically tell that I'm in a disguise and my cover is immediately blown and become suspicious with this causing me unable to get through the Meat King level. I've tried going as stealthy as can be with closing the blinds when assassinating the Meat King and mostly walking (mind you at a snail's pace) with me only occasionally running. Some prime things I am talking about are:
  • When delivering the chicken to the Meat King, in the room where the two women go after leaving his room, I am sometimes randomly made suspicious by the guard either in the current room or the one who searches me at the stairs. It's about 50/50 if I'm suspicious or not.
  • After walking around for a bit to get to the kitchen to grab the chicken, I am also sometimes randomly suspicious by nearby guards or meat people.
  • When walking back from assassinating the Meat King, while walking through the dance room where the opium pipes are, I also randomly have a chance to get spotted for no apparent reason. It's not even as if the Meat King's body was discovered yet, but merely just "bad luck" on my end.
Is there something I'm missing to these older games or is this just how the AI has always been in these games? Like I've said before, I know what I'm doing, it's more-so the random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ chance that I'm randomly suspicious for no logical reason at all.

Did you leave the truck where you spawn in unlocked?
Every time I read a discussion about the AI being bugged in The Meat King's Party, it's always because they seemingly forgot to lock the doors by pushing the button next to the truck when you first leave.

Most of the time the guards become incredibly suspicious because of this reason and the reason for them getting suspicious outside of that is because of being incredibly close to their face to the point that they recognize you or the fact that you run up into their face and start constantly bumping into them. Contrary to popular belief you don't need to walk around as much as guards are no longer suspicious of you while running.

Aside from that, the AI is quite consistent for the most part but it is definitely different compared to Hitman 2016; it isn't as annoying as in Silent Assassin and it is definitely harder than Blood Money's, which is why I find it kind of peculiar that you have trouble with Blood Money as well since that game's guards are really forgiving when it comes to trying to figure out if you are disguised or not.

Also, the AI can be suspicious if you start holding weapons, even if they are appropriate for your disguise (e.g. the butcher with his knife/meat cleaver). Alongside that, the top guard that frisks you when you're near the Meat King will blow your cover if you have any weapons on you (including the cleaver and the hook)

Try capping FPS. Both Contracts and Silent Assassin seem to be somewhat FPS based. Once I cap the FPS to 60 (and in some cases 30) the tension meter stops acting insane and the AI starts doing less weird ♥♥♥♥. Most of the memes about guards seem to come from this

Basically, in short, in Hitman 1, 2, and Contracts (3), enemies don't stay knocked out forever. What this means is enemies that are knocked out, eventually wake up, and run to the nearest guard and explain what happened. Regardless of if you switched clothes or were seen or not, the guards will know who you are and will attack on sight. The Meat King's Party as others have mentioned, has an NPC that's in this knock out mode by default, and the intended way to deal with him is to take his clothes and lock him in the trailer. Hitman Contracts doesn't really have any "random" catches from guards, for the most part, they were fixed from Hitman 2 (that doesn't mean everything is 100% perfect of course).
