IOS downgrade help

I had this game (not on steam) on another hard drive, which was lost. I intend to get this game on steam now, and since I also use IOS devices for people without computers, I was wondering if it was possible to downgrade the Steam version of the game, and how i would go about doing it if it required any special treatment (I am aware of the downgrade download on the official site).

The reason I ask is because I am aware of how steam games tend to always stay up to date, and I'm wondering if simply installing the downgrade will do anything other than break the steam version.

Of course, I'm just speculating. For all i know the download should work fine. But it would be good to know what is what before i buy the steam version instead of getting it off of the site.

+1 iOS is still on 2.3. Please provide a beta branch of 2.3 on Steam so that we can use it with iOS.
